The Virus thing want be over until after the election. Both sides are investing billions of dollars to get in power to get a return on their investment. The fake news will fizzle after that. The "virus thing" will be over after a vaccine is developed and distributed all over the country/world. Fake news won't have anything to do with it. Had a co-worker get sick from it and she was a healthy lady in her thirties. Her hubby was hospitalized in the ICU but is now better. Vaccine won’t solve this in my opinion. We have a flu vaccine and people still get it, spread it and die from it. Plus there are a lot of people who won’t take the vaccine and openly say they won’t including people in the medical industry. We need to decide at this point that life is over as we know it and lock down and hide or move forward.

Would you let your child play if members of the team are positive? Would you want him to bring it into your house? How about the coaches? Many are older gentlemen who may have underlying conditions. A vaccine would be a foundation for the return to normal, someday.

Austin Westlake’s Head Coach Todd Dodge is holding his QB/Receiver Clinic at Sports Complex in Portland this Week. Good to see Young Athletes being able to Practice and Learn Football!

More deaths have occurred by suicide in California in the last 4 weeks than all of last year according to doctors in that state. Tennessee reporting the same thing. They are citing it “deaths of despair”. That is concerning also. What about how teenagers deal with this long term? They can’t go to school. They can’t play the sport they love after years of investment. They can’t be out with their friends (which most do anyway). When does suicide become an issue there and will anyone listen then? Teenagers need social development and struggle with emotions - especially if not in a stable home. The fallout to this is way bigger than just the virus.

Let people know its ok to talk and open up to people regarding depression. Absolutely and it’s a serious problem that needs to be considered. Kids commit suicide as it is over a girl or boy. We had a player many years ago who was going to be a starting standout player in our backfield. He was injured In a scrimmage and missed his entire junior year. He was seriously depressed and suicidal. Fortunately his mother who is dear friend to me recognized it and sought help for him. So don’t tell me this isn’t going to be an issue for kids. Phil Danaher has always said that kids need football more than football needs kids. He’s 70 years old and ready to get on the field to work with kids. It’s easy to sit back and say we need to wait until there’s a vaccine but that could take years. I feel for these kids.

Life is not fair. Get over it. There is a big spike in suicides in the Military and with Veterans this year. PTSD is a majot cause of suicides in the military and with Veterans. 2020 was dealt a pandemic of COVID-19. There were actions to take that could have been taken sooner. Social distancing, wearing masks, and people staying at home did work. The problem is the relaxing of those measures as well as those that did not wear masks or practice social distancing is why there is a big resurgence, especially in Texas. Below is a great article from the Austin American Statesman that describes what happened to Corpus Christi/Nueces County. www.statesman.com/news/20200712/in-corpus-christi-out-of-towners-drove-in-outbreak

Below is a great article from the Austin American Statesman that describes what happened to Corpus Christi/Nueces County. www.statesman.com/news/20200712/in-corpus-christi-out-of-towners-drove-in-outbreakI CLEARLY understand your opinion on the matter but here’s the thing....it’s your opinion and I’m entitled to mine as well. You may say “get it over it” but depression and suicide is a big concern. I have dear friends who lost their son a few years ago to suicide and he was a Calallen athlete and they never saw it coming. They spend their time advocating for suicide awareness among kids and it’s real despite what you think. I appreciate your service and am in no way discounting that it’s real for those who served also. But these are kids and they are vulnerable and for many of them sports, their coaches and teachers are the only stability in their life - especially when they may be home alone all day on the computer because mom and dad have to work. So save me the “get over it”. I hardly think you’d say “get over it” to a parent who’s lost their child to suicide.

Life is not fair. Get over it. What are you referring to? Life is not fair. Adapt and overcome. Take the hand dealt. Kids do not "have to" get back in school now. Kids "do not need" football. Parents and kids need to work through it and come out on the other side. Freaking wussification of America. Too much coddling and not enough tough love. The risk is too great to start in-classroom instruction until communities can slow the spread of COVID-19. There is already a shortage of masks and PPE for medical/healtcare workers. In-classroom instruction will put an even greater strain on that struggling supply chain. Could have avoided this mess if actions were taken sooner as well as maintained social distancing, wearing masks and people staying at home. The relaxing of these restrictions and careless actions by others have resulted in this current state of the mess. It is what it is now. We are reaping now the benefits of what careless people were sowing the past two months. Get over it.

I agree with this 100% From DCTF: “We are going to have to risk athletes getting Coronavirus in order to play. This is not a risk we need to take. Even if there is a less than 1 percent chance an athlete could die from this, that is too great of a risk for a sport.” t.co/qHUlfKkUif ✍️ @tepper | #TXHSFB t.co/ykvXMv2Ekk

And says other things like "Freaking wussification of America. Too much coddling and not enough tough love." You sure do complain a lot about other people doing what they want. Maybe you should "Get over it".
