What has been the toughest playoff path that your school has had? Also if you want to comment on another schools difficult playoff path that works too.

Out of the 17 playoff appearances Burleson has made since its inception of football in 1951 it has only made it out of the bi-district rounds 3 times. Much of that may have to due with the fact that the district championships have been rare too. Only 3 of those in school history. Overwhelmingly, out of the 17 appearances the Elks have not been the better team to advance out of bi-district because the opponent was just simply more superior. When in the old 5A we only made it out of bi-district 1 time and that was in 2008 when we upset Arlington Martin and then had to go on and play Permian in the area round. In 2001 we had beaten perennial powers at the time Stephenville and Brownwood two years in a row and skipped all the way to the state semifinals in what was the old 4A to face upstart Denton Ryan who went on to win their first state title over Smithson Valley. Some of the biggest issues for the Elks through the years has simply been about tough match ups particularly, in the first round but the rest of it is just not being good enough in district to win a higher seed and potentially getting a more suitable and even match up in bi-district. You have to be good enough to earn it. But this is a great system and I wouldn't change it.
1961 Lost to Crowell 37-0 in bi-district 1969 Lost to Bohnam 38-7 in bi-district (upset #2 Ennis 7-0 to start the season that ended 9-2) 1992 Lost to 5A Lewisville 48-7 in bi-district (first time back to the playoffs since 1969) (The Farmers went on to lose to Permian in the Regional Final) 1993 Lost to 5A State Champ Lewisville in bi-district (got whipped 43-7) 1997 Lost to 4A State Finalist Corsicana in bi-district (played tough only trailing 13-12 at half but lost control in the second half losing 30-12) (Corsicana advanced to the state title game losing to Texas City) 2000 Lost to 4A OD Wyatt 28-14 in bi-district (They went on to lose to Wolfforth Frenship in the Regional Quarterfinal) 2001 Lost to 4A State Champ Denton Ryan 39-0 in the Semi Finals (avenged the 2000 loss to Wyatt in bi-district) (also beat Grapevine 11-10 in the Regional Semi Final and Amarillo Palo Duro 19-7 in the Regional Final) 2002 Lost to 5A Abilene Cooper 20-10 in bi-district (played them very tough, they went on to lose to Southlake Carroll in the Regional Final) 2004 Lost to 5A Midland High 31-10 in bi-district (They went on to lose to Denton Ryan in the Regional Final) 2006 Lost to 5A Midland Lee 37-30 in bi-district (played in Midland and didn't decide to start playing until the second half. Comeback fell short) 2008 Lost to 5A Odessa Permian 56-21 in the Area round after upsetting Arlington Martin in bi-district (Permian went on to lose to eventual state champ Allen the next week after having the chance to beat them) 2009 Lost to 5A Arlington High 38-12 in bi-district (They went on to lose to Trinity in Regional Quarterfinals) 2011 Lost to 4A Waco Midway 35-13 in bi-district (One of Midway's best teams all time losing to Lake Travis in the title game 22-7) 2013 Lost to 4A Aledo 76-6 in bi-district (Aledo's best team all time and they could have done to us like they did Western Hills and put up over 90 if they had wanted. They were that good) 2014 Lost to 5A Azle 45-20 in the Area round after beating South Hills 37-21 in bi-district (One of Azle's best teams all time) 2015 Lost to 5a Lake Dallas 35-14 in the Area round (Beat South Hills 50-14 in bi-district) 2017 Lost to Mansfield Legacy 42-3 in bi-district (They go on to lose to State Champ Aledo in one of the more dramatic victories for the Bearcats)

School: Fort Bend Marshall
Year: 2019
Playoff opponents: Port Neches-Groves, A&M Consolidated, Huntsville, Manvel, Boerne Champion, and Aledo
Reason why: Maybe the scores were not close some of the games but this is a very impressive playoff run. Not sure how many other 5A schools could have made the title game. Seems that every one of these teams have been in the mix recently and has had some playoff success.

That's a pretty tough road to the title.
