If the billion dollar NFL and NCAA cant properly contain their athletes and provide medical care for covid how can the UIL and each school cover that expense.
Also you sure as hell can stop and start a season.

Life is full of choices. If you are a person with any condition that makes you at risk then take all prudent precautions. If you are not and choose to attend places that might expose you to any contagion and have friends, contacts or family who do have those health conditions then take precautions anytime you're near them. Parking the world is not a reasonable option. Correct you cant stop the world, but sports, especially HS sports are low on the priority list to keep running during a pandemic.

The Covid 19/ Coronavirus has killed twice as many as the Flu in 1/3 of a year in the USA. So you are fine with the elderly and health compromised in catching and dying just to get back to normal and have Texas High School Football season for 2020? That is selfish. Might as well just let everyone gather in large stadiums, arenas, etc. and spread it all at once. Whomever lives is fine and whomever dies is oh well. Survival of the fitest! smh It is not slowing down in the heat of the Summer, as some tried to falsely state. I do know of family, friends and coworkers that have had Covid 19. It is getting worse as the restraints to stop the spread are being relaxed. I can't answer for everyone but as far as for me. By no means is even one life that this has taken not significant. But reality is more and more people are getting this and if we plan on no one getting it then see you next year. This season will not happen or school year. As someone else said if you have conditions then be careful and take care of yourself. I myself have diabetes and am at risk yet I choose to live my life without fear. The good book says I shall fear no man but God. Now at the same time it doesn't say to be stupid and go swim with sharks either know what I mean. I am just saying that if we are getting ready for the season anticipating what will happen and being prepared is all we can do. And in my opinion that means some kids will have it and the possibility of them getting it is something that can happen. Then again we could not play and they can get it pumping gas . It just takes that one time. I suspect in a month from now, we will have a clearer picture about where things may be headed. For one, hopefully the hospitalization rate doesn't spike way up as feared. And if it does, let's starting holding the official stat people accountable to notate whether the hospitalization is 100% related to Covid or if there are indeed underlying conditions which required the patient to be admitted to the hospital such as is the case with other viruses such as the flu. We need data which one would think would be available now of exactly how long the virus really effects the health of individual if at all. I know we've all heard and read stories from even people we know or maybe it experienced it ourselves about a flu/cold like illness effecting folks as early as last November for which Docs had no answer for and treated it like the common flu. Most toughed it out because nothing was working to even minimize the symptoms. I suspect we might get to this point again with this disease waiting for a vaccine because being on a permanent or even semi permanent lock down will not work nor can we put that genie back in the bottle again. Nor can we expect to keep people from wanting to engage in normal activity for the long term. It is just not in our DNA and even the biggest shamers on Facebook/Twitter right now who want people who don't wear mask or engage in the most stringent forms of social distancing to be punished will eventually crack to. I take that back, some will not as long as they are getting a paycheck or another source of income. Or two, are used to being homebodies, so not being out and about is not a big deal to them.

So what happens if the majority of a team is sick with Covid and quarantined? Do they forfeit 2 weeks worth of games ? What if 2 teams playing each other have depleted rosters in quarantine and by depleted I mean not enough to suit up for a game ?? Do they postpone the game ?

Do they postpone the game ? i If it got to that point your most likely looking at a season shut down for that team at a minimum in my opinion. If the season is a few weeks in you would have to inform each team they played and they would need to self quartine for at least two weeks. Then you are looking at locker room fumigation, equipment, and bus sanitization at a medical-grade level. Probably even additional school buildings, keep in mind that most locker rooms/weight rooms are shared areas with other sports and they would be stopped as well. As you see its a big snowball effect that can build up rapidly up if you don't follow proper health practices.

I don’t see how anyone expects a full season to be played without any hiccups or a potential shut down

From Greg Tepper DCTF:
This is an important point — it’s on all of us, not just schools, to slow the spread of COVID-19 if we want schools to open and stay open in the fall.

With mask orders now being implemented and some pull back such as the workouts being cutback, restaurants/bars scaling back , we will see if going back to the extreme scenario is necessary. I hope not because it's not good for anyone except the most extreme home body.

I just wonder how much more testing is being done now than when this first started and they didn't have many tests. And if that is why there are more positive cases. I know Brazos County just surpassed 1000 Positive test about a week ago.

As much as we all love high school football, I don't see it happening without a vaccine. Hope I'm wrong but.......

From Chris Thomasson kiiitv sports: So today kind of felt like the equivalent of a kick to the groin for high school athletics in the area.
11 more schools in all either shutting down workouts or at least letting us know about them, bringing the total number to 20.
One of those days that really gets you down.
From CC VMHS HC: For sure i really don’t want anymore kids to have to go through what we went through this spring I’m praying we can get our football season going on time. There are way to many players, cheerleaders, drill team, band, and trainers involved. Please pray for relief

We were very steady for a couple of months and last two weeks our hospital numbers just about quadrupled. I’ve spent the last two weeks in quarantine because we had a student in one of our courses test positive. Measures were taken to make sure our incoming class was healthy, class size cut in half, prescreening, strict measures. We still had someone get sick by the end of the week.
