So with the state in general having numbers jump up with Covid19. And now that some off season work outs have begun. It's starting to become clear to me that the only way we have a season is by knowing at one point or another kids will get this. If we start up the season the UIL has to let it play out is my opinion. Can't start and stop this. And if this is not allowed here please remove it . Just something that in my opinion has to be talked about openly because this happening .

I posted this on the 6A site. It semi relates.
If you have kids doing football related activities in groups (7v7, elite camps) without the high school coaches running it, I think all those adults are doing a disservice to the kids and the football program they attend. I saw on Twitter last night a "lineman showcase" or some sort of camp. All the kids were bunched up and it didn't seem like anyone cared about proper precaution. Dont get me wrong, if it's just me going out in the world then yeah it's my decision not to wear a mask. But if I had teammates and coaches that could be effected by my selfishness then that's a different story. I've seen multiple programs get shut down for 2 weeks because someone tested positive. Sure it might not seem like a big deal but if the trend continues I'm not sure how much the UIL is going to allow before they consider shutting things down. Kids are going to be kids and they want to get better and compete, I get that. But to go to these camps and non-UIL events just seems like the kids and parents are choosing themselves over the team. I value having all the seniors being able to play their final season over individuals trying to get on the scouting radar. The play on the field during football season is much more important than some talent showcase.

At risk kids should take extra precautions for sure but the average kid will be fine. I know quite a few with it now and all are saying the flu was actually worse. I totally get that it’s more severe for some but that’s the case with a lot of things. Just my opinion. Kids want to play.

IMO the quarantine has prolonged the whole thing. Had we went about our normal business this could very well be over. Quarantine should have been for the elderly and those with existing conditions.

So your theory is to proceed as normal, pretty much infect everyone, then see who survives? Yeah, maybe it could be over by now.

I am not sure how the numbers are down south. But hard for me to think with all the people that go threw C.C. that a player won't get it. I know we have already had a Angleton and a Brazoswood player get it. You can't stop it.

That’s the thing - the success measure can’t be that no kid is exposed or even gets it. That’s unrealistic. We might as well shut everything down if that’s the case.

Just like the flu does every year and both kill people. BUT we don't lock down for the flu... Do we. And the flu doesn't last near as long. Does it.

So you are fine with the elderly and health compromised in catching and dying just to get back to normal and have Texas High School Football season for 2020? That is selfish. Might as well just let everyone gather in large stadiums, arenas, etc. and spread it all at once. Whomever lives is fine and whomever dies is oh well. Survival of the fitest! smh It is not slowing down in the heat of the Summer, as some tried to falsely state. I do know of family, friends and coworkers that have had Covid 19. It is getting worse as the restraints to stop the spread are being relaxed.

Life is full of choices. If you are a person with any condition that makes you at risk then take all prudent precautions. If you are not and choose to attend places that might expose you to any contagion and have friends, contacts or family who do have those health conditions then take precautions anytime you're near them. Parking the world is not a reasonable option.

I for one am worried we will not have a football season. San Antonio is having a big problem with Covid right now. If we do have a season it might be difficult because every time a kid tests positive they quarantine. You may get a season where the teams look like walking wounded with kids constantly going in and coming off quarantine.

But reality is more and more people are getting this and if we plan on no one getting it then see you next year. This season will not happen or school year. As someone else said if you have conditions then be careful and take care of yourself. I myself have diabetes and am at risk yet I choose to live my life without fear. The good book says I shall fear no man but God. Now at the same time it doesn't say to be stupid and go swim with sharks either know what I mean. I am just saying that if we are getting ready for the season anticipating what will happen and being prepared is all we can do. And in my opinion that means some kids will have it and the possibility of them getting it is something that can happen. Then again we could not play and they can get it pumping gas . It just takes that one time.

I suspect you are more likely to get it in the class room than on the field or in the stands. We are seeing people get it wearing mask and washing and hand sanitizer. It isn’t heat that stops it but the virus has a problem with high humidity. Heat over 125 degrees should kill it but humans can’t stand a lot of that.
