DCTF is picking La Vega over Lampasas for the 4A D-1 State Championship Well, Lampasas certainly gave Carthage more trouble in the semis than La Vega did in the finals. I been overlooking them in R4 for sure and they certainly deserve to be a front runner for the region but I just think one of the D15 teams is going to beat them.

They are definitely going to beat the crud out of each other during District play. And it's entirely possible 2 teams from this district face off again for the region championship. Should be fun to watch. Absolutely. It is not hard to imagine this at all. Especially being there are only 21 teams in R4 in this division. lol Actually a bit crazy to think that all but 5 teams in 4a D1 R4 make the playoffs. Probably extremely important that you either finish 1 or 2 in district so that you go into opposite sides of the bracket in order not to meet up before the regional finals! I actually believe at least one of the D15 will play for a title in the next two seasons and very possibly bring it home. Honestly I don't see anyone from R3 that is 'real scary'! Good certainly, but not unbeatable by our R4 rep at all. By the way, back in 2015 which was my boy's Jr year all four of our teams from our district matched up in the regional finals. Judson/SV & Clemens/Steele. That was pretty damn cool and I believe the last time it has happened in region 4. El Campo Ranked #9, Has a really good stable of RBs. The Freshman from last year has a ton of offers already. showing to be one of those once in a great while kind of players. and the others aren't slouches. El Campo will be a tough out in the playoffs. Needville should be solid again too.

I saw the Lampasas/Needville game in the dome. Lampasas offense was legit, super quick kids and that offense was a machine. They didn’t carry the size of PLC or Cal type of team but very well coached and just quick. Needville RB ran all over them, it was a track meet and Lampasas just had more. I think if Lampasas brings the same type of team back then they will have trouble stopping a big physical team that runs right at them. But I also think that offense could give fits to just about anyone in the region.

Calallen won 20-19. Needville scored with 9 seconds left, went for two and didn’t get it . Calallen had over 41 minutes time of possession to Needville under 7 minutes.

Calallen had a weird season last year where for 10 weeks we looked lost at times and even a few of us were thinking at best we would be two and done in the playoffs . I would have loved to see us replay all ten games with the team who put up huge numbers on offense in the playoffs. That's not taking anything away from Needville or anyone else who gave us fits early on, but something clicked in a good way once we hit the playoffs.

It is reasonable for me to feel all butt hurt that they didn’t pick Cal to even win the Region? Like, come on dude. They probably won’t even play this year. Just pick us to win State so that we can complain for the next 30 years about how the Corona costed us a title. Stuff like that makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But no, not even a regional title, thanks, pssh.

All those sophomores and juniors finally became seniors and they did not even get to play their final season!!
