Exactly, Playing that schedule is going to make it hard to be ready for the playoffs IMHO. There is nobody to remotely challenge them. They can point to playing 2 6A teams. BUT those two teams would lose a bunch of games in 5A and possibly 4A. It's just not Impressive. Can't fault them for the district they are in but they could have found better Non District opponents to at least challenge them a little. I hear ya. They just have to focus on their technique and stay disciplined. Dont form sloppy habits bc they are playing bad teams. Also dont get cocky. Remember that it picks up in the playoffs and their winning margin is going to be much smaller. Like you mentioned experience with adversity is going to be their biggest challenge come December. I wasnt wild about our district either, but you know well, good programs dont focus on their opponents, they focus on being the best they can possibly be regardless of who they play.

Unfortunately for y'all until you beat the runner up in D15 (Tivy/BC) during the 2nd round, not much y'all can do to impress people.

That's the problem when dealing with teenage boys. I don't care who or how good the coach is, if they go unchallenged the entire season. A early round loss would be possible in the very early rounds of the playoffs. I know the coach will talk to them over and over and over. but it could still happen.

Better be focused on the opponent or a bad team will beat a good one on any given Friday.

I can see a season where LH is not behind on the scoreboard for 12 weeks (counting the BYE). soon as that second round opponent goes up by 14+ in the first quarter of the second playoff game. The wheels come off.

Assume all schedules have been sorted, we only had minor changes - lost one scrimmage and replaced a 6A Game 1 with the #12 5A/D1 FRISCO INDEPENDENCE game, so a really good eary test for us. Looking at all the Frisco teams we play its like we are back in our old district of 9-5A days. Anyone get a surprise substitution game or something unexpected scheduled

Burleson was supposed to open up with Abilene Wylie, Azle, and Centennial for non-district.
Now that's gone and we open with the Boot Bowl game with Centennial and then Keller Timber Creek for our only non-district games as far as I know. With this affecting everybody's schedule we weren't able to retain either Wylie or Azle to keep 10 games. Looks like a 9 game schedule right now unless we can get another match up that fits in to both teams schedules and I would venture to guess that is probably pretty tough right now. The Elks schedule has already been changed 3 different times. Haven't heard a word about a scrimmage either. That may be a pipe dream heading in to this season still assuming that we get one.

LH continues to grow at a rapid rate and with the previous success they've had I can easily see them continuing to grow this program with the population growth. If the numbers I see are right LH has 9 wins in the last 10 years and that certainly is very good but even better is they have 70 in the last 7 and a trip to the finals. That said, it is always tough to maintain this kind of success while climbing classifications so quickly. I do think that the expectations of everyone there after having won two titles and played for another will help drive it forward. It will be fun to watch how LH does these first couple years in 5a D2. I will say that having teams like Calallen and PLC out of the way in this division in R4 certainly does not hurt LH's path at all.

But the squad that beat both those teams last year is still here. Along with Tivy, Pioneer, Brenham

I saw the game vs Marshall and seem to remember them having quite a few Senior Starters.

Lake Travis and Southlake Carrol both had success in a very short time after transitioning from 4A (3A)to what 5A (4A). Lake Travis success was even more remarkable because in 3A, they really were just OK. Southlake Carrol on the other hand was winning championships as they moved up the ladder which certainly made it easier.

Assuming everyone stays healthy and all and I think BC will overcome Tivy in a close one being that Tivy has them at home, I personally cant wait for that potential Boerne Champion and Pioneer rematch in the 3rd round!! Top part of the bracket is going to be tough with Brenham, Tivy(assuming they lose to BC) and LH all duking it out for a spot in the regional final

ELM should be well rested.
