Way things sit today we are bringing back 8 on Defense and 9 on Offense, given the uncertainty of folks losing jobs etc, subject to change...how about y'all....

Way things sit today we are bringing back 8 on Defense and 9 on Offense, given the uncertainty of folks losing jobs etc, subject to change...how about y'all.... I don’t know the exact numbers, but I would guess we are similar. We only had 1-2 Seniors on offense and maybe 4-6 on D. However, we had a lot of Sophomores on varsity last year, all of which got significant PT. I never understand how coaches come up with those returning numbers. I can see Lovejoy saying they are retiring 9/9, but have no idea how coach Ross will list things. Seems like some schools fudge the numbers. Some say they are returning everyone and others slow play it and say 4/5. We are in the same boat with folks losing jobs and businesses. I haven’t seen any big uptick in houses on the market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not coming. Banks are freezing Jumbo loans so that will begin affecting a lot of Lovejoy’s home market, I can see Frisco and Lovejoy having similar issues. Saw some Frisco rezoning plans and it looks like Old Frisco high will be growing. It will be nice when Frisco ISD stabilizes their attendance zones. Prosper is next in population fluctuation and adding high schools every few years. Princeton is seeing growth and will shoot up to 5A-D1 or 6A in a hurry, but this recession/depression will slow everyone’s growth.

Yeah i remember y'all being young last year as well, i am so glad the zoning in FISD will have minimal impact on Old Frisco HS, it was painful...every-time they opened a campus 1/2 the kids drained away...when Reedy opened due to random distribution it was nearly 3/4 of the team (sub Varsity kids moved) .... and we have numerous brother vs brother matchups in the first two years after open. Great to see UIL leading on S&C access and Gov Abbott on allowing folks to attend outdoor sporting events...hope we keep the momentum going with no negative effects this summer.

Lovejoy scrimmaged Frisco Centennial last night. Both schools started slow and Lovejoy didn't show much of their playbook. Lovejoy got on a roll and the 1's dominated the late half of the series portion of the scrimmage. Lovejoy only played their 1's for the first series in the timed quarter and the rest of the time it was mostly 2's and 3's. Centennials 1's looked good against Lovejoy's 3's and Centennial won the timed portion, but Lovejoy had seen what they needed by that point. Lovejoy's #2 QB only played RB and didn't take any QB snaps. The next in line QB transferred to Plano (along with the previous coaching staff). Centennial didn't appear to be very good so I don't think they are a good measure on how Lovejoy will look this year. Lovejoy plays JPII, but since they're TAPPS I don't know much about them.
The last line on the DCTF write up will most likely define the Leopards season, "Ross says the big concern is depth up front on both sides of the ball".

WF Rider scrimmaged Rock Hill last night. Rock hill isnt inept for a brand new team. I don't think they will be a typical brand new team that goes winless but they dont seem to have any difference makers. Not alot of size or speed. The Prosper ISD stadium is really nice however.

Thanks for the write up... looking forward to reading how Coach Ross does this season with Lovejoy. Just curious, what type of defense are ya'll running? Is it a 3-4 or is it 4 down DLs?

Thanks for the update, Frisco High hooks up with McKinney North tonight at 6, should be on NFHS...i expect we will do about the same , give the 1's about 15 reps each side and move on to 2/3s. We need to stay healthy for a big game #1 vs Frisco Independence, Max preps has them at #3 in 5A1 and DCTF at #12...so a very good test against a quality team

I spoke to a few folks last night and told them the Rock Hill most likely won't go winless. The shutdowns and COVID protocols slowed their growth, but I think they will win a few, but I see their ceiling at .500 (depending on their non-district schedule)

North normally has some athletes and if I recall they had a high powered offense last year. Not sure how much they lost to graduation

Scrimmage Update
Frisco Played McKinney North in Frisco last night
Format was a number of 10 play offense/defense series that alternated first team, second/third team kids. Then an offical timed quater, with officials, play clock and penalties etc...game simulation
First few 10 play sessions there were lots of penalties, few fumbles and generarly looked like shaking the rust off. Both teams had success moving the ball McK N through the air, Frisco on the ground...no surprises here. During the alternating play Frisco Scored 3 TD ( 2 air. 1 ground) and McK broke a long run, so 3 to 1 TDS during this period. Near rage end of the alternating periods it turned more intense and looked like a higher level of ball, setting up the live quarter.
In the live Quarter, Frisco won the toss and its was ground and pound, we were able to move the ball well and ate the clock approx.6 minutes and scored a TD. McK N took possession with the score 7-0, Frisco kept stuffing the run , and used a mix of underneath passes to keep advancing, but slowly. We swapped 3 and outs and then McK drove to about the Frisco 35 with 2 minutes to go and the Frisco D tightened up and the last two plays were QB Sacks, change of possession and FHS drained the clock. Final was 7-0
McK N brought back 4 offense and 7 defense, Frisco returns 9 offense and 7 defense, personally was happy with the talent that stepped into the new roles. Need to clean up penalties and few things as we turn to a tough week #1 matchup with Frisco Independace
McKinney North has a alot of large kids on the OL/DL they are big and lots of athletes, accurate QB and weapons on the edge, they will be a competitive squad although in a tough district with Longview and HP, John Tyler etc..

In the live 1/4 it appeared that everyone ran 1s. With a few subs running in and out as normal, I think it was the only opportunity to get live game simulation prior to this week
