San Marcos got them a damned good coach. Hopefully he can build a solid staff to rebuild that program.

There has to be something more behind this move other than some head butting with the AD of the Denton ISD. Just makes no sense. Bush was able to turn this SM program around 20+ years ago, lets see if he can now. I can tell you this, he will not have the type of athletes he is used to having at Guyer!

Not the same athletes, but SM will be good. If the Rattlers were able to make the 6A quarterfinals under a good coaching team before, I don’t see why San Marcos can’t do the same again. I hope I’m being overly optimistic for them. I don’t want NB losing to San Marcos.

What I read publicly is he wanted to relocate to that part of the state and who wouldn't if opportunity knocked? San Marcos should be a very attractive job due to location and population shifts from Austin moving that way. One high school town at present which is kind of rare animal in the 6A ranks now a days.

He could have come to GP but GP already has a Championship builder Coach.

He could have come to GP but GP already has a Championship builder Coach. West Oso hired Coach Smithey from Victoria West (OC) as their new Head Coach. Sent from my SM-N950U using proboards

I’d say San Marcos scores a heck of a Coach. My thoughts were the same as Clem........Walsh will not have the same type of athlete. However, I’m sure SM has enough kids to be a good team and who knows maybe they become a really good team under Walsh.

Hound Hound I expected to get a chuckle and not sour grapes. However GP is waiting for the other shoe to drop. GP has a retiring Superintendent and a AC/HC in his last year of a 2 year contract and starting his 37th year of coaching. GP has the retread disease and will frown on a coach coming from elsewhere and disturbing their retreads.

Coach Walsh has a kind of authoritative look about him and kind of like the Coach at Miller.

Very solid teams Clemens beat his best team in the regional final one year and it was a hell of a game played at Rutledge Stadium in Converse. 98' I believe was the year.

As a former Rattler assistant, I am excited for them with this hire. He can get those kids bought in and the winning will happen again. Bush and Van Nest both had some good teams through 2007, then they fell off the grid drastically.

As a former Rattler assistant, I am excited for them with this hire. He can get those kids bought in and the winning will happen again. Bush and Van Nest both had some good teams through 2007, then they fell off the grid drastically. That is the key WC82. Let me tell you that from what I saw there when my kid's freshman team beat the pants off them by 60+ back in the 2012 season that was the biggest issue they had....attitude. Hell man, we had kids switching jerseys in the 2nd half and carrying the ball up the middle trying not to score on them and still did multiple times. At the end we were walking with my boy and some of his buds towards the busses and a bunch of those SM players that had just been whooped like school girls were having a grand ol' time playing grabazz with some girls while we walked by acting as though they'd just won a big game. They certainly seemed to have not problem with being massacred at all and I don't remember their coaches telling them much about it either. My thought at the time, and I said as much to Mrs Clemensbuff and my boy to was that SM was going to be hurting for a long time if that was the general attitude of the team/players. If you were with Bush over there in San Marcos when all the renovations were happening I likely saw you around campus. I was overseeing a bunch of that work at the time and had a couple colorful conversations with coach Bush. He was a good guy and I enjoyed talking football with him those times.
