Pioneer and Vela will be the only teams from RGV that will make noise.. Those two teams seem to be rising in Valley

Weslaco East has the only chance from RGV.. McMemorial always finds a way to mess it up or they cant get it done plus they have no more Speights runners left.. And Pace hahaha please umm no.. I think a corpus team will take it tbh and i'm from the valley Agreed mcmemorial always chokes lol. All that talent to not win. I remember that year they had trevor speights at rb(stanford football) , dj johnson at wr (6’7 basketball recruit) and josh sanchez at qb (6’7 rice d1 football) And ricky miner (6’1 300lb dt d2 college football) and those big linebackers , 6’3 230 and they always have big olines and fast secondaries yet they ended up loosing when it matters vs lesser teams . Vela could make a run to the 4th rd in 6a depending on drawing. If they get another team like brandeis they should have a great chance. Brandeis always seem to barely squeak past by rgv teams

If I’m not mistaken, there aren’t any San Antonio or Austin teams in Region 4 this year, save for an inner city San Antonio district. Region 4 truly belongs to Corpus or The Valley this realignment.

I'll buy CC Vets but not the "strong teams" from D16. Weslaco East is a combined 0-9 against quality programs in the playoffs (Flour Bluff, Calallen, Cedar Park, Cibolo Steele, Austin Westlake). Brownsville Pace has an even worse playoff history. Here are their last 5 seasons records 3-7, 3-7, 5-6, 7-4, and 6-5. Weslaco east played cibolo steele very tough just like it played fb and cal . They also beat manor last year with one of their weakest squads in history, they have always been a small school playing a div up. They always have really strong hardnosed players, some of the toughest strongest ive seen, obviously lack speed even for rgv standards but theyre very rough and hardnosed .Mcallen memorial will be the other team to watch for in the valley. They always have talent but cant win. Mc memorial is easily the most talented team in the rgv always but can never really get thru the hump. Drop down from 6a. Pace should be an ok squad but no regional fav. Maybe a borderline playoff team. Brownsville teams are hard to predict , but they mostly always are on the bad side Cedar Park played Weslaco East in the Alamo Dome in 2010 & 2011 and both games got pretty ugly real fast! In 2010 it was 48-7 CP and that was when WE had a top 10 rusher in the nation by the name of Bobby Gonzales who was averaging over 225 yds. per game but only managed 135 total yards rushing against the Black Rain Defense. In 2011 it was even more ugly at 49-0. They had a huge offense line, but managed <40 yds of total offense in the first half against the Black Rain. Be glad Region IV doesn't have to go through the Austin area any more.

They were brand new program at that point when yall beat them and yall had a great program going on there but dont act like all of austin football is superb . Im not trying to daisy chain but didnt cedar park lose to a team that weslaco east beat that last year, a team that made the regional final?. Austin does not impress me outside of yes cedar park most years, lake travis , westlake and every now and then another good team pops out like vandy or hutto. Austin football is the equivalent of San Antonio/coastal bend football , 2 really good programs and then 2 more good teams then meh after. It is what it is. The valley may not win vs teams like lake travis, westlake, judson etc whenever they meet but then again no one from their perspective area does either. Austin to this day doesnt impress me outside of the top 3 teams so no the rgv or the coastal bend doesnt care about going thru austin or not because they can and have beat austin teams before. Its not like every austin team is lt,westlake or cedar park on their glory days
