Very interested in the Weiss @ Rudder game this week. Weiss lost to Rouse and Rudder beat Bastrop soundly. I expected Rudder to be better this year, Did not expect them to beat Bastrop 49-7. They play every year and for the last two those games have been close. Last year was a 1 point game.

District 11 5A DI Roundup: Cedar Park, P'ville's Elijah Oakmon impress in opening week
Austin American Statesman by Chris Dukes
Team of the Week: Cedar Park The Cedar Park (1-0) defense looked to be in midseason form as it stymied rival Vandegrift (0-1) for most of the game in a 21-7 season-opening win. The “Black Rain” unit was led by senior linebacker Javion Mays, who recorded a pair of sacks and helped handing Vandegrift its first regular-season loss in more than two years. Quarterback Ryder Hernandez completed 20 of 24 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
Player of the Week: Elijah Oakmon - Plugerville The running back for Pflugerville (1-0) posted with 177 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in his team’s 35-0 victory over rival Connally (0-1). Pflugerville looked the part of a playoff contender with a dominant performance in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Taking advantage of the space provided to him from his offensive line, Oakman made would-be Connally tacklers miss in the open field catching the ball, running the ball and in the return game.
The rest of the District: Rouse racked up 430 total yards of offense in an emphatic 49-27 victory over Weiss (0-1). ... Leander (0-1) showed some improvement, but couldn’t quite get by Glenn in a 31-27 loss. ... Georgetown (1-0) used a 22-point fourth quarter to pull away for a 36-27 road win over Belton. ... Hendrickson (1-0) shook off a slow start and roared to life in the middle quarters for a 38-28 victory over Akins.
The Week in Preview: One of the area’s best traditions, the McCallum Knights and Anderson Trojans have squared off to start the season in the Taco Shack Bowl for the last decade. The two Austin school district programs don’t share a district or even a classification, giving the one-off game a special feel every time they lock up. Anderson ended a three-game McCalllum winning streak in the series last year with a 29-7 victory and evened the all-time series at 9-9. Even with social distancing and limited seating at House Park, you can expect a raucous and unique atmosphere for this one.
Plfugerville will host McNeil in a game between two familiar former district foes. ... Hendrickson tries to make it 2-0 when it travels up Hwy 195 for a game against Killeen. .. Leander takes on a Class 6A opponent in crosstown Vista Ridge. ... Cedar Park looks to stay perfect in a nondistrict showdown against 6A Cedar Ridge. ... Manor opens the season against LBJ. ... Weiss visits Bryan Rudder. ... Georgetown hosts Copperas Cove.

District 11 5A DI Roundup: Cedar Park, Georgetown set up early district showdown
Austin American Statesman by Chris Dukes
Team of the Week: Georgetown The Eagles (2-0) continued to look impressive in a dominant 38-14 win over Copperas Cove. The Eagles built a 34-7 lead through three quarters and broke the game open on a quarterback Darson Herman’s 1-yard touchdown run in the final period. Herman finished 9-for-13 for 166 yards and a scoring toss while adding nine carries for 21 yards on the ground. Four different Eagles scored touchdowns in the win.
Player of the Week: Ryder Hernandez - Cedar Park The Timberwolves’ (2-0) offense revolved around Hernandez’s arm in a 28-14 win over Cedar Ridge. The Cedar Park quarterback finished 21-of-31 for 343 yards and four scoring tosses to four different receivers. Preston Scott, Gunnar Abseck, Tristan Hervey and Jack Hesters all caught touchdown passes in the victory as the Timberwolves continued to impress with another win over another quality 6A opponent.
The rest of the District: Pflugerville (2-0) continued its surprising start to 2020 with another big win, knocking off former district rival McNeil 21-14. ... Anderson vanquished rival McCallum 14-7 in the Taco Shack Bowl. ... Leander (0-2) ran into a buzz saw on the road against Vista Ridge in a 45-7 loss. ... Manor (0-1) dropped its season opener to LBJ 35-19. ... Weiss (0-2) couldn’t quite get the best of Rudder in a 63-56 shootout. ... Hendrickson held off Killeen for a 24-17 road win. The Hawks’ defense held Killeen to 262 yards, and Xavier Lucio had a touchdown run and a late interception that sealed the win.
The Week in Preview
Game of the Week: Georgetown @ Cedar Park These two heavyweights always seem to meet up with major district-title implications on the line, and this year looks to be no different. Both the Eagles and Timberwolves have looked like not only district-title contenders but could be lining up lengthy playoff runs in 2020 after each scored a pair of impressive non-district wins to start the season. Cedar Park’s heavy passing attack will meet up against a balanced Georgetown offense that will try and spread the ball out.
The rest of the District:
Both Anderson and Pflugerville are undefeated and potentially looking at a dark-horse run to the playoffs. One of them will take a step toward that goal when they meet in both teams’ district opener. ... Hendrickson looks to get to 3-0 when it takes on crosstown Weiss. ... Manor plays host to Leander.

OK.. District 11 has it's first postponed games this season as Pf. Weiss has reported a Covid-19 case on campus and has cancelled both this week's home game vs Pf. Hendrickson and next week's game @ Austin Anderson.

District 11 5A DI Roundup: Cedar Park routs Georgetown, eyes Hendrickson
Austin American Statesman by Chris Dukes
Team of the Week: Cedar Park In a battle of two expected district title contenders, the Timberwolves (3-0, 1-0 District 11-5A DI) left no doubt which team is the clear-cut No. 1 in District 11-5A Division I. Cedar Park dismantled a strong Georgetown (2-1, 0-1) team in a 56-24 win that was actually more lopsided than the score indicated. The Timberwolves rushed out to a 49-3 halftime lead and coasted in cruise control in the second half in what might have been the most impressive showing by any team in Central Texas so far this year.
Player of the Week: Ryder Hernandez - Cedar Park Facing a stout Georgetown defense, Hernandez made it look easy by going 19-for-29 for 327 yards and four scoring tosses. It’s even more impressive considering most of his work was done before his team hit the locker room for halftime. Hernandez has thrown for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this year with no interceptions, compiling a sizzling 146.6 passer rating.
The rest of the District: Pflugerville (3-0, 1-0) moved to 3-0 and 1-0 in district play with a 35-22 victory over Anderson (1-1, 0-1). ... Manor (1-1, 1-0) outlasted a a gritty Leander (0-3, 0-1) team to earn a 34-28 win.
The Week in Preview
Game of the Week: Cedar Park @ Hendrickson The Timberwolves looked almost indestructible last week against Georgetown, but now must face off against an explosive and physical Hendrickson team. The Hawks are 2-0 after wins over Akins and Killeen in non-district action, and they had last week’s district-opener against Weiss rescheduled because of coronavirus concerns at Weiss. Do the Hawks have the run game needed to make headway against the Black Rain defense and keep Hernandez off the field at The Pfield?
The rest of the District: Pflugerville looks to go 4-0 for the first time since the glory days of the George Hermann era when they travel to Leander, renewing one of the area’s oldest rivalries. ... Anderson, which was originally scheduled to face Weiss this week, goes out of district to take on Cedar Ridge. ... Manor travels to Georgetown to face an Eagles team eager to get back on track. Pf. Weiss is still in Quarantine.
