Reopens the question who said no to FB vs Cal for game 2? 😠 It's disappointing for many of us. Especially this upcoming season even if we would have played it at your house, it would have been a shorter road trip. Now we have two back to back long road trips and in fact almost every road game is a long road trip save Miller. I wish we could get frequent road miles for a credit card to transfer to free or reduce price gas much like frequent flier miles for air travel for reduced or free airline travel. FB can't complain about travel. One Laredo game then GP is the next longest. My old HS Haltom NE FT. Worth burb is way happy to not have San Angelo again in district.

The other downside about our schedule this season is in 4A , the top two seeds don't get the auto home game in the first round of the playoffs. So there is a 50/50 chance we will have to travel to the valley for a first round game unless we matchup with Kingsville in the first round. Then we can pretty well assume we might play neutral/halfway in the second round unless its Pleasanton or Somerset.

Heck Pico, even the 2nd round matchups have the potential to be long road trips as well. At least to SA or even Austin when looking at the district 13 & 14 teams. Lose the coin toss and it is likely at least 150 miles. Looks like the price you have to pay to move down into 4a D1. Lot more playoff travel for sure it seems

Save for the first round auto home games the last two seasons, we mainly played our second and further round games at the Alamodome or elsewhere in and around SA. But you are right the second round is more than likely going to be against a winner of district 13 which is more Austin centric, unless Somerset or Pleasanton gets in and manages to pull an upset. Then since their is really no central location between those two, it would be best to flip home and home or home/neutral. Oh well.... Hopefully fuel prices can stay around where they are right now.

Should be a dogfight in R4 4a D1 no doubt. Whoever comes out will be battle tested and ready for the R3 rep in the semis!

It is not unusual for a higher Division team to not want to play a lower Division team. I would think there would be a advantage in revenue playing PLC but Victoria schools are not hurting for revenue. East and West are playing 4A D2 teams this year. So much for not wanting to play lower division teams. Looking to pad the win stats is more likely the cause. Although Columbia has beaten VE two years in a row.

Heard Tivy will play Calallen in non district. This is a good game for both teams IMO no matter who wins or loses. It will help both get ready for district play

Cal plays them up there in non district. I don't know much about them at all. They haven't really played any local teams in the past two seasons so it is pretty difficult to get a feel for them. In 2017 they played local teams and this is how they did. Beat La Pryor 27-0 Beat St Anthony 20-17 Lost to SA Christian 0-29 Lost to Holy Cross 0-17 Lost to A. Hyde Park 10-33 Lost to A. Regents 0-48 Lost to ST Michaels 7-19 Lost to St Marys Hall 9-16 I did a matchup of Cal/Cornerstone for 2019 on Cal-Preps website and it came out 22-21 Cornerstone. Though I wouldn't bet any money on any projected matchup that does give some indication that they definitely have improved some the past two seasons I think. Doing the same matchup of Cal & Cornerstone in 2017 it comes up Calallen 42 Cornerstone 0

But, that was in 2017 when the calpreps game projector said Calallen would have spanked them 52-0. I know that teams can vastly improve in just a couple of years but I just don't see one improving that much from 2017 to 2019.

I know they got in trouble with TAPPS with their boy's basketball program due to some of their recruiting practices which means they must have really pushed the envelope and then some to get removed a private school league.

Exactly man! I've never understood why any private or charter school is allowed to compete in the UIL at all...…...PERIOD! I also have a big, big problem with these charter schools receiving funding from the state! They are allowed to pick and choose which students they allow in, collect the funding, then boot them out whenever they want after they've received that funding. Then those students end up right back in the public school they came from! I bet if the state 'pro-rated' that funding and did not pay them from the time that child was dismissed they would be a little slower on the trigger to keep only the cream of the crop at those schools and make themselves look like they are just killing it with their educational skills when in fact they are absolutely no better than any public school!
