He got a number of D1 offers, but yes it's kind of different to see a kid from Texas and much less South Texas go to a West Coast school, especially a big boy school. Exactly Pico. We had a kid from Clemens go to USC just a few years ago. He did well and got his education but didn't get to play all that much. A lot of times though you hear of kids going to a school so far away and not having any real ties to that school or maybe more importantly, family nearby and they end up getting homesick bad. I knew this kid had multiple offers so that is kinda why I asked. Hope he tears it up there even though I really don't like the west coast schools and one of the happiest days of my life was watching UT beat USC for the title. lol My wife's cousin experienced that. He was a Katy star RB 15 years ago. He went to UCLA. He did not get playing time. Transferred to TCU. Same thing, they already had an established star RB. He graduated though. He played in the Dallas Carter movie a few years ago.

Mine too especially with the current state of the UT program. I actually got to see UT do it again up in Austin in 2018. The only tickets I could get my hands on is where most of the USC faithful were sitting. Talk about high society types who scatter once the scoreboard shows an "L" is likely. LOL! LMAO Pico We got to catch a ton of games on the 40 acres the years Malcolm Brown was there. Even got to see him score his first TD as a Longhorn and it happened right in front of us as we were sitting in the corner of the endzone about 15 rows up. We had a good friend with 4 seats that lived out of town and he offered his seats to me for every game he couldn't make which was usually all but 1 or 2 home games. Good times for sure man.

Non District is now over. Nothing to do but learn from the previous 5 games and everyone is 0-0. Yes we all think we know which teams will go to the playoffs... but nobody got to this point without at least 1 loss.
So, here they go. Good luck, play hard. Let's see what happens.

Should be a good challenge for the 4 teams getting in. I think it’s alittle more wide open than it was last year. Your correct there’s a good feel about who is getting in but the order of those teams in my opinion is wide open.

I’d take Alice over Beeville and PLC over TM. Not sure what to think about Cal/Miller. That is the game of the week for sure. What you need against Miller is great defensive play… Consistent play. They get themselves into 3rd and 4th downs a lot… sure they’ll have a big play now and then… but generally they aren’t great at sustaining drives when facing a consistently good defense. They bog down. Then they’ll go for it on 4th down. Welcome that. Yes they’ll convert a couple. But be patient. Another 4th down is coming in 4 plays, most times. They will not convert them all. Your offense will need to take advantage. Your defense will get you the ball many times. If your offense can’t score more than 28 against them, you’ll be in trouble… because Miller will get at least 21 on even the best defenses more times than not. With 28, you have a little cushion in case they’re playing lights out. Personally, I recommend coming with at least 42 just to be safe. Lol!

Just watched the Calallen @ T-M game, all of it. Focus was on what TM was doing. They are big in the trenches. So is Calhoun. Controlling the line of scrimmage will be a key to the game. As will turnovers. From playing TM they seem to like trick plays vs Calhoun but that was with the last two coaches. Don't know if that will be the same this year. Hard to tell on video but I think Calhoun will have a edge in speed. TM didn't look to have much. If Calhoun can control the clock on offense with long drives that end in scores they should win. Calhoun has an issue with extra points and went for 2 a lot vs Beeville. Not sure what's up there.

I just don’t see TM giving PLC too much trouble, and i don’t see Beeville holding down Alice. Concerning Alice, for an offense that had been held in check for most of the season, they really exploded on Miller and could have won that game. Miller vs Cal will answer some questions in seeding for sure.

I don’t know some expert said Miller will hang 49 on Calallen.

And I think the Cal/Miller game is going to be very close....so much so, I still haven't been able to pick a winner in the poll. With Cal's fans saying what they have been about the level of play I'm leaning to Miller but then I think that now is when it counts and just think they likely will turn it up a notch........who da hell knows....lol
