I agree. But Why play Jourdanton? I understand the connection with Danaher and Andrus but not much of a game for Calallen I saw this and asked myself the same thing. This game will not help Cal in any way that I can see. It will be long over by halftime. The only thing I could see is if old Danaher wants to look at a lot of young players or even some different sets on offense and defense. Then a game like this could have some upside to it. Danaher agreed to play Jourdanton out of friendship with Darrell Andrus. Andrus has been asking for several years because he wants to expose his kids to a bigger team. Danaher kept declining as long as we were 5A. Dropping to 4A made it a little more feasible. We have a tough schedule so it wouldn’t hurt to play them. We scrimmage Bay City and CC Vets then have teams like Los Fresnos and Tivy plus a tough district schedule.

So dies one rivalry people both sides looked forward to. Maybe CCVM is FBs new rival.

I completely understand the tough schedule and playing both tivy and los fresnos is for sure adding to that tough schedule. So with Tivy, LF, and Jourdanton on the non-district schedule, who are the other two? I'm not shaming him or the Cal team in anyway whatsoever. I saw Journdanton play Hallettsville in the POs last year and they are a good 3a team but they will get run ruled by Calallen and it will not take a half to do it. I know they are only 1 classification lower (4a to 3a) but trust me when I say it is a much bigger leap than that one classification step would suggest. They simply will not have the size, speed, and athletes to keep pace. I'm not sure at all it will help the Jourdanton team either.

This game will be over by the 2nd quarter but I can see Danaher,'s logic here. Tough non district and district schedule, maybe he sees this as a rest or open week. It will give the starters some rest and he can put some of the younger kids in there to get some looks and game experience. He may need a few of them by seasons end. I personally think it's an okay move looking at the rest of their schedule.

Alice's Schedule Week 1 - Vets Week 2 - Vic East Week 3 - Harligen South Week 4 - Hidalgo Week 5 - Kingsville Week 6 - Open Week 7 - Miller Week 8 - Beeville Week 9 - Calallen Week 10 - PLC Week 11 - TM At least we don’t have to play Laredo Alexander on Week Zero. Vets, Victoria East & Harlingen South are quality opponents. Hidalgo is a puzzling opponent in which I’m confused & Kingsville of course like I’ve said for a long time this rivalry hasn’t been a REAL rivalry since Coach Whit left Kingsville. I’m looking forward to the Beeville & Miller games & the rest tho!

Go follow my Facebook page under the name South Texas Bloodsport. I made a post the other day about who will win this district and the comments got good. Today I plan on making a Miller vs Calallen post to really get things heated lol.

Now it's for real. 4A-1 D15 district play starts this week.
Miller travels to Alice to take on the Coyotes
Calhoun is at Beeville for the first time in a long time.
T-M at Calallen for the neighborhood rivalry.
Good luck to all.

I don't think I could be any more amped up for 15 4A-1 District play to start.
All the talking is over. It's time to see who the best 4 teams are and we as fans have no say so in it. The Young Men on the Field have the say so from here on out. So from now until District is over, the only team I want to win is Calhoun. Unless they need help from someone else.
I like Calhoun, Calallen and Miller as sure bets to get in the top 4. But who will fill out the final playoff spot. That's what we start to find out Tomorrow Night.
