Wow, you just now woke up when a gov. Report does not agree with you but you said nothing when I discussed the niche report giving good grades to FB and not so much GP or FB. That may have been the reason calcatgirl girl mentioned Cal had a A. When my post disagrees with you it is nonsense even though I produce facts. How about backing up your data straight from the horse mouth like the TEA. I buy a Caller times every now and then on Sunday and Got one this morning and it is usual Trump hater rag. I got a laugh from my wife when I told her I post some things about what goes on in the Coastal Bend and wait for a poster in SanAntonio by the name of Clem to give his unbiased opinion on it as he has no connection to to this area. If you're not going to look at the report I nor anyone can help you. It won't copy and paste here. So ramble on.

All I know from my contacts in the real estate industry, Flour Bluff ISD is one of the top ISD's shown to newbies to the area primarily due to it's the ISD which serves the Island and it has a good academic ranking . In no order it's FB, Calallen, GP, Rockport and London. If they insist in living in the city close to amenities like more restaurants and shopping, it's the Vets attendance zone which might be complemented now with the Carroll zone since they will have shiny ( and overpriced) amenities to compete with Vets in a couple of years.

I looked at the Caller report that contradicts the Texas Gov. report and I went to the TEA and pulled up their 2018 report the latest they have and it favors FB over Cal and Cal over GP. It favors King over Carroll and Taft is a disaster. There is a Collegiate academy HS that cleans everyone clock and I don't know anything about it. I think the Real Estate use the niche report the most. It just goes to show you that money does not give you the best schools. GP is probably the richest school in the area and has spent the most and they are B rated in HS and only one,East Cliff EL that is top rated.

Those students and teachers worked hard and long to achieve that status so they deserve recognition.

It takes a little bit to find the TEA scores but worth the look to see what goes on in the area. The one I found was 2018 and schools are graded on improvement and improvement is so bad in Houston ISD the state is about to take over. I remember when TAft was about to be under GPISD. They are pretty low grade now. The middle class has moved over to GP. High percent of Hispanic is no excuse. I worked with a lot of Hispanics from Taft that were smarter than me. One had a 9th grade education and his oldest daughter was Valdictorian and next daughter was salutatorian. They both got accounting degrees and one passed her CPA. My barber for the last 45 years was a migrant worker and he wears 7,000 dollar tailor made Luchese boots and plays golf and has a deer lease and owns his salon and a barber college. I have to make and appointment because he stays booked up.

Wfcoyote, What I take from your Post is a Person can do Good no matter where they live or go to School. You just got to Want to do Good! There is no doubt it is Easier if you are surrounded with People who have the Same Goals as You and have Parents and Teachers who Want to See you do Good!!!

Corect Johnny’s. Some villages are better than others and sometimes one person can make a difference. My barber had talent and loves to cut hair. He went to work for Bill Glasson who had a brother who had a shop in Portland. He ended up buying the shop. DR. Benjamin Carson is a good example with some help from his mom who could not read are write rose to the top. My wife and I drove past Farmer Moser’s garden a few minutes ago and I mentioned he had bailed his hay. She commented that he runs a neat place. I said it is because he loves what he is doing. He is retired oil field and chose to plant a garden each year and raise a few cows and his wife passed away years ago. She was a principal at East Cliff Elementery. His plot is across the hey from Sinton Airport.

Nine of Rockport’s 16 playoff Wins have came in the last 6 years. Our Present Coach has more Playoff Wins than all Coaches before him Combined. Rockport has had an Attitude Change.. They went from Hoping to Win to Believing they will Win. Now they need to make the next step in Knowing they Will Win. Rockport beat Canyon Lake in the Second Round of the Playoffs 6 years ago. They lost to Liberty Hill in the 3rd Round of the Playoffs with Rockport leading with 38 seconds left in game. They have beat LaVernia and have Won 3 and Lost 3 in the last 6 games with Sinton. They Beat Beeville all 3 times they have played them. Rockport lost to Wimberley in the third Round of the Playoffs this past year. Rockport went for two point conversion and the Win with 4 Seconds left in Game. Clem, you are Correct it will get much Tougher two years from now. Almost all Teams have a Rough Time with Calallen and Port Lavaca and recently with Miller. Rockport will have a Young Team this Year. It should be a good game with Sinton this year. I just hope we get to play! No doubt R-F is getting better and I would think will continue to do so. But for someone to come on to a thread and say they are the "new and improved Calallen". Kinda just a little early I think.

Clem, please know I did not make the Statement or believe Rockport is the “New and Improved Calallen”. Over the last 30 Years Calallen’s Record is unmatched. For any school to be as Good as Calallen has been for so Many Years is Incredible! For Someone who has lived in Portland for 44 Years and a GP Fan that is Not Easy to Say! It is what it is. Calallen Deserves All the Credit and Praise they Receive.

My advice to you is forget about being an alma mater homer and it'll open up your mind and you'll see how great other programs really are and start to appreciate them. It was easy for me because I got screwed so it's hypocritical for me to say but it can be done. I wasted lots of years hating on other programs for no reason at all other than being an Alice fanboy.

Oh trust bru….I know who made that comment and that is was NOT you. lol GP had some damn good teams back in the day for sure and I truly believe they will again. It just needs to click for them to have one really good year and the 'buy-in' will come from those who are not believing yet. I just hope that comes before Rhoades leaves or retires.

Amen Chino I will say this much...…...there ain't much better one I can think of to sing praise to in R4 these last 30 or so years. Cal has really set the bar high. A lot of 'our' schools/teams have had some good years no doubt including yours and mine but the longevity that Cal has displayed being at the top of the mountain is DAMN IMPRESSIVE.

When Bob Shipley became the Burnet High School head football coach and athletic director in 2001, he brought with him the spread offense, a scheme that emphasizes short passes to receivers in space, allowing for yards after the catch.
At the time, the spread was just taking off. But more programs began adopting the scheme and playing for and winning state championships, including Southlake Carroll and Austin Lake Travis.
Suddenly, the spread was all the rage.
Shipley guided the Bulldogs to two consecutive Class 3A state runner-up finishes in 2002 and 2003.
Carroll went 98-11 from 2000-06 and played for five state championships, winning four. Lake Travis won five straight state titles from 2007-11, setting a state record for the most titles won consecutively.
All three teams used the spread during those runs, and it looked to be the offensive scheme of the future, one that coaches would use for years to come.
But recently, offenses seem to be favoring another style, one that’s almost as old as the sport itself.
Marble Falls, Llano, and Burnet head football coaches are preparing their defenses for slot-T and wing-T offenses, schemes that emphasize running and misdirection in an attempt to confuse the defense.
The slot-T and wing-T date back to the early days of football, when offenses relied heavily on running.
The T-formation is one of the base lineups: quarterback under center, fullback behind him, and halfbacks to the immediate left and right of the fullback. It also utilizes two tight ends.
Coaches began tweaking the offense with the wing-T, which gained ground in the late 1930s and early 1940s. This scheme put one of the halfbacks, or wingback in this scenario, just off the line of scrimmage next to one of the tackles and added a wide receiver, or split end.
The slot-T is a variation of the wing-T.
Both offenses rely heavily on misdirection to confuse defenses. When ran effectively, it’s a deadly offense.
In three pre-district games and one scrimmage, Marble Falls has defended the Slot-T three times. Mustangs head coach Mike Birdwell purposely scheduled opponents with that scheme, believing they’d see it in district competition.
The Mustangs scrimmaged against Liberty Hill, which won state championships in 2006 and 2007 using the Slot-T offense that is taught to every child wanting to be a Panther.
Former Liberty Hill head coach Jerry Vance brought the slot-T with him when he arrived at the school in 2001, and he never abandoned it. In his 16 years as the Liberty Hill head coach, Vance had a 155-46 record. His career record is 164-57. While other coaches and programs moved to spread offenses, Vance held with the slot-T up until his retirement in 2017.
Already this year, Llano has faced three teams that favor the run: Luling with its slot-T, Brady and the wing-T, and Lago Vista’s triple-option.
Burnet played Lockhart, a slot-T team, in preparation for Liberty Hill and Fischer Canyon Lake in District 14-4A Division II play.
Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano each run a version of the spread offense.
Llano head coach Matt Green, a former offensive coordinator, and Burnet head coach Kurt Jones, a former defensive coordinator, offered insight on why it seems more teams are using these run schemes.
Green believes some coaches see the type of athletes they have at quarterback and the other offensive players and install schemes that best suit those athletes. Most of them can run with the ball, they can hand the ball off, and they can run block. Not every player can complete a pass on a designed rollout or hit a receiver in the hands with the ball, he added.
“It could be a quarterback-related issue throughout the program,” he said.
It’s said that passing the football has one of three results, and two of them, incompletions or interceptions, are bad. But running the ball allows teams to control the clock, tire the defense, and keep the other team’s offense on the sideline.
“We can hog the ball and run the clock and limit your possessions,” Green said.
Jones believes it comes back to what coaches are comfortable using.
“Schools look for a way to be successful,” he said. “You run block and see what you can grind out. You believe in it and coach it the right way, you can be successful.”
