The big summer break was started umpteen years ago so farmers could use their kids to gather crops. Now you use one of those half million dollar strippers to pick cotton and drop bales out like Easter eggs. Theses new high powered tractors can go as high as $750,000. I checked and 10% of schools in the US is year around with 2 week breaks each 6 weeks. I think a more efficient system could do away with the breaks and design a system with three semesters that makes use of the school everyday all year. Schools operate on a socialism system. I want the better and harder working teachers rewarded which would result in better education for the students. You might get your wish for year round school at GP in the fall. All school districts in Texas are looking at ways they can safely reopen the schools. They have acknowledged that they most likely cannot bring in all the students all at once since there isn’t enough space to have all the social distancing regulations that they have to adhere to now. They may have to stagger different grades from attending in each semester. Say 9th and 11th attending from 7am to noon and having 10th and 12th attend from 1pm to 6pm. They are looking at different ways to limit exposure and still attend school safely. There is no easy fix but they must solve this problem.

I was looking at the Coaches at Yoe who had a very successful program and there were a lot of retreads on Coach Rhoades staff there. Coach Anastacio came back to GP and had about the same results as Coach Sosa going back to Alice. Coach Anastacio was hired by Coach Darren Allman whom he played with at Hardin Simmons to rebuild the Permian program and Coach Allman was going back as a retread to Odessa. That program was so bad there were only 10 applicants for the job. Permian went from bad to winning a state title. His retread going home worked out. I feel sorry for his wife having to move so often but he gets offers and goes in and installs discipline and fires and hires coaches and moves on and those schools have a winning program. His last was putting Coach Dodge junior a retread ar Southlake and now he has taken a challenge to rebuild Nacogdoches. I,m keeping my eye on Rockport. It is a pretty good drive back and forth from this Steel plant to Rockport but they are looking at houses in Calallen and you have a problem with a train crossing the tracks in Odem. If you have small children, you want to move to that Wood River elementary in Calallen or East Cliff in Portland. Aransas Pass has pretty good ratings . If Rockport gets a couple of pretty good talented Football players move in with what they have, they may go farther in the playoffs. Best post of the month. Rockport is looking good.

Calcatgirl had a comment that Calallen and Flour Bluff had a A rating and I checked and it was Calallen and Veterans Memorial that had a A rating and FB was rated a B same as GP. I mentioned to my wife about the commute from the steel plant to Rockport and she did not think it was to bad. They could come the back way on 188 and set sail. Rockport is a great place to live and they have stores there now and years ago it was inconvenient to have to shop in Corpus. There is a survey on google that does reviews and they rank Flour Bluff as a great school and I guess they treat kids better.

I suspect your right 37, since it’s apparent lately on Facebook. I have seen over the last year on the GP ISD acct on FB, the administration pushing outstanding teachers and academic success at GP. On the other hand I have not seen a single word on athletics at GP. Dr Clore’s contract must be coming up because it seems he’s brown nosing up to his base. I’ve been around some very good programs both academically and athletically and it’s most apparent that he has sold out the athletic programs. The school board still pushes for work on facilities and because GP is currently flush with industry tax money they get approved. As long as Clore is the Supt at GP do not expect him to really support our athletic programs. Rhoades will be Gone after this season and they will hire a sub par coach to replace him. Rhodes is sub par , havent you noticed ?? Yes indeed RICK RHOADES 16 years; 147-55-0; 11-8-3 2000 New Braunfels 8-5-0 T 2001 New Braunfels 8-4-0 R 2002 New Braunfels 12-3-0* 2003 New Braunfels 8-4-0* 2004 New Braunfels 6-5-0 T 2009 Cameron 6-4-0 2010 Cameron 14-1-0* 2011 Cameron 6-5-0* 2012 Cameron 15-0-0* 2013 Cameron 15-1-0* 2014 Cameron 12-4-0 C 2015 Cameron 14-2-0* 2016 Gregory-Portland 5-5-0 2017 Gregory-Portland 6-4-0 2018 Gregory-Portland 6-4-0 2019 Gregory-Portland 6-4-0 or...………...maybe it is the admin and leadership at the district, talent level, work ethic of kids, or even parents who act like you? Is that possible??

Didn't Rockport Fulton just get a stud player from G-P when Wild Bill took his kid there? You best believe it ! Eat mud So, are you predicting RF is going to actually do something noticeable by anyone outside of the coastal bend this year? The last time RF even made it to a regional finals was 20 years ago and Calallen dismantled them by 3+ TDs! 16-20-1 overall in their history in the playoffs with 1 time past the 3rd round and your old rival pounded em. lmao Good luck.....better get it done in the next two years before you move up to 4a D1 and have to get past teams like this...…….. Comal Canyon Lake Fredericksburg Lampasas Boerne La Vernia Alice Beeville Jones CC Calallen Corpus Christi Miller Port Lavaca Calhoun

Raymondville 3 or 4 be between Rockport and Rio Hondo those will be the likely 4 playoff teams. Sinton just getting started getting back to where they were usually a contender in the region.

I agree but was just stating that if RF is going to do something in the region they better do if in 4a D2 because D1 has become a literal gauntlet now! I could see the Rockport area growing considerably in the next few years so they certainly could jump up a class if that happens.

Nine of Rockport’s 16 playoff Wins have came in the last 6 years. Our Present Coach has more Playoff Wins than all Coaches before him Combined. Rockport has had an Attitude Change.. They went from Hoping to Win to Believing they will Win. Now they need to make the next step in Knowing they Will Win.
Rockport beat Canyon Lake in the Second Round of the Playoffs 6 years ago. They lost to Liberty Hill in the 3rd Round of the Playoffs with Rockport leading with 38 seconds left in game. They have beat LaVernia and have Won 3 and Lost 3 in the last 6 games with Sinton. They Beat Beeville all 3 times they have played them. Rockport lost to Wimberley in the third Round of the Playoffs this past year. Rockport went for two point conversion and the Win with 4 Seconds left in Game. Clem, you are Correct it will get much Tougher two years from now. Almost all Teams have a Rough Time with Calallen and Port Lavaca and recently with Miller.
Rockport will have a Young Team this Year. It should be a good game with Sinton this year. I just hope we get to play!
