I think it will be more like a lack of interest in watching GP football. There was a lot of empty seats in the area where I was sitting by the end of the season last year. I was surprised that people would leave before half time and not watch the bands. I love watching the bands and am glad that VE and VW bands will be back. Those bands were great. The message the GP players will get is make a better effort and you will get more fans. Do you think it was fun to watch Calallen run free down the left side of the line all night and rack up 500 yds and 3 or 4 RB get 100 yards each. I watched it 2 years in a row and GP still has the same coaching staff. The DC's 3rd daughter was losing pitcher in the first Soft Ball game the other day. Beat Calallen the first game next season then we will ses what happens with the fans.

I notice the Caller Times did not publish any GP Baseball or Softball scores and Nothing on GP Soccer. GP has some 250 to 300 grade school kids playing Soccer on Sat and 2 of them are kin to me. GP has over a 100 grade school kids playing basket Ball on Sat at the Baptist church . GP has a big bond election coming up to throw more money at the Education money disposal and some is going for athletics. Caller a Times has lost a lot of Circulation at Portland and Sinton among other places.

I talked to a group campaigning for the bond issue in Sinton and they said to tell the GP faithful thank you and invited everyone to come over and watch Sinton baseball.

Our boys are doing pretty DAMN well without them! It's pretty amazing at least 4 current kids orginally from Portland now in Sinton and all of them are very good at baseball. GP loaded with talent because yes i've notice they're still pretty good.

One of those kids from GP has committed to LSU. He is a pitcher. You may be doing well now but when a team gets in the playoffs, it helps to have depth at pitching when you get a 3 game playoff with another team that has pitching depth. The Coach at Sinton is pretty popular and seems to be doing a pretty good job. Sinton is a welfare city with fewer middle class all the time. There are 5 different government housing in Sinton.

There is a shortage of houses for sale in Sinton and the people moving here for the new steel plant are looking at Calallen and Portland. There are 100 houses for sale in Portland. Sinton is looking at building because the plant is planning for 600 employees. There is a RV Park in Sinton bursting at the seams full of pipeline people. The Steel plant is under construction at present.

The Steel plant is under construction at present. There’s more than 100 for sale but they are going fast. All the land south of the High school and west of Portland has been bought up by developers. There’s been at least 100-150 new home built in the last year and the pace of new startups is increasing. They are just finishing construction on the 10th new hotel and starting on the 11th. It’s kind of crazy around Portland with all the people moving in constantly and all the traffic from the plants construction. All the locals avoid HEB and Walmart from 4-6 pm due to very long lines at check out. This isn’t even the peak of construction that should happen in 2021 at the Exxon plant north of Portland. They expect close to 5000 construction jobs at the peak and last for 1.5 to 2 years. Lots of work also going on new Junior high campus and even more now with the addition of building a football field and track just for the Jr high athletes. I’ve got a couple more years before I retire so I’m sprucing up house to sell right before I get the hell out of there! Portland and Gregory both are growing at a real fast pace and it’s a lil too fast for me but the market is great for sellers right now.

This past season, 4 scholarship baseball players were extremely integral parts of the Vets football team. Without those players, it's a different team... and one that probably doesn't get the W over Miller in Round 3. Why don't the GP boys play both sports? College coach after college coach will say that they prefer their recruits to be multi-sport athletes. You are Wrong !

College coach after college coach will say that they prefer their recruits to be multi-sport athletes. You are Wrong ! I think you are mistaken. I am friends with the parents of quite a few boys that have played and are currently playing big time college football, and even a couple playing Basketball at power 5 conferences. Those parents will tell you to the last one that each of their kids was encouraged by the college recruiters to play other sports, not just the one they were being recruited for. About the only exception to that was football players who were finishing up their senior years because they wanted them to begin the workouts and diets required to gain the muscle and weight they would need for the coming 4-5 years at the university they had signed with.

Ccwarcat is not wrong. FB Coach Steinbruck has reposted many college coaches posts saying exactly what he said. Shush FBfan! You know he is talking about those almighty powerhouse teams and players from Delaware or whatever state he is from.

But I will say some of the last coaches in the sports world who are slow to adapt to this thinking or return to it are indeed baseball coaches and in particular the travel ball circuit>>>>>>>$$$$$$$$$ .... and much to the detriment of the kids.
