Aledo Championship History (8th title appearance in 10 years): 7-2 1974 Grapeland (L) 19-18 1998 Cuero (W) 14-7 2009 Brenham (W) 35-21 2010 La Marque (W) 69-34 2011 Manvel (W) 49-28 2013 Brenham (W) 38-10 2014 Temple (W) 49-45 2016 Calallen (W) 24-16 2017 College Station (L) 20-19 2018 Fort Bend Marshall (?) Aledo gets back in the win column at the SCs this weekend. I don't think Aledo's starters will be in the game at the end either. I just think Aledo is going to jump on them in this game. I honestly do not see either 5a game being close. On the contrary though with the 6a games. I think both will be great games.

I’d be surprised if Aledo doesn’t take this one comfortably. Not that FBM isn’t a good team, but more because I think Aledo is just on another level compared to the rest of the state this year. If FBM can’t slow the game down I can see it getting out of hand early. Aledo’s experience and familiarity with the venue will play a role too. Aledo 42...FBM 20 I agree CWFB. I think Aledo is going to jump on them and never look back. Something like 35-21 is the final but the game will not seem that close on the field.

It would be nice to see FBM keep the game competetive. I know it's an inexact science, but when you are loser in one of these semis and you lose them in close fashion like Cal has unfortunately , you almost always want to see the winner look good in the State game because you kind of do the "if we would've been there, we might have won of kept it close too" comparison. Especially when the team you lost to is facing a team like Aledo and are the favorite to win it all.

And I hope FBM competes well..........I just have this feeling that Aledo is about explode. Hope I'm wrong and this one is a barn burner like I expect both 6a games to be.

History should tell us that at least one of these games turns out to be closer than most expected or ends up in the upset of the four day event. I mean when we played Aledo, I think a significant part of the media and the message boards including some on here thought it was going to be a mismatch because we were a a Region IV team who slipped through the cracks and finally made it back to a state title game after a decade of trying. I will concede even some Calallen folks hoped we'd go up there and at least look respectable for most of the game until the dam would burst with TD after TD's. Fortunatley we were in the game until pretty much the end and walked out with some respect.

I'll tell you this, the kids have been saying all year that they want to avenge the loss from last year. I'd say Aledo has a mental edge and is extremely motivated. That is trouble coming FBM's way. We'll see how they handle the big show. I still believe it will be close. FBM has so much speed. I'd be surprised if they dont have a 50+ yard td.

Calallen held their offensive speed in check most of the night minus the one busted play where he broke loose on the 80 yard run. I realize the wing t allowed us to control the tempo of the game but I don’t want to overlook the fantastic work of our defense because ultimately rhey are capable of scoring on one play so holding them to 19 was nothing short of remarkable. I see Aledo shutting them down also if we held them that low. That’s just my opinion.

I just think indoors they will be warmed up and ready to stretch those legs.

But thats my point about them being that explosive. All it takes is barely missing them.

The winds were expected to be much higher and they kind of subsided as the sun went down to a more steady level like 10 to 15 mph. The thinking was it would effect the psssing game more if they had to throw directly into a 25 to 30 mph sustained winds like we had on Thursday and most of the daytime on Friday with higher gusts to 40 to 50 mph.

I haven’t had the opportunity to watch Aledo this year, but if they are on par with the 2016 team, then these guys are out of their minds. Maybe I’m wrong, but it felt like FBM was weakest Region III team that we’ve faced in the semi-finals.
