It's almost time and looks like the usual teams in 5a,4a,3a and 2a in coastal bend will be strong again. Once again some good baseball will be played around Corpus Christi area.

There is no definite favorite in 30-5A this season. I think at least 10 of the 11 teams will be in contention for one of the four spots.
Calallen needs to do some soul searching and decide which way the program wants to go. The last three or four seasons have been underwhelming when it came to the post season as well as periods during the regular season as well. Talent is there indeed, but for whatever reason it goes MIA when it's crunch time, especially at the plate.
One thing I will say needs to be done and made understood as practice starts soon is the old saying "all positions are open" and they need to mean it. I contend having some kids come in who have been told since their days at Oil Belt, PONY or whatever pay to play league they play in is they have a slot on JV or Varsity waiting for them when they hit High School has not been an overall plus for the program. If anything it has led to a since of contentment or entitlement and flushed out some kids who have said the heck with it because they see the deck stacked against them and neither see the incentive to work harder for the prize at the end of the day. Some will work hard for that college schollie shot, but overall the team concept has been lost and that is what has been lacking IMO for the last few seasons. You can't have one or two college bound players pick up the slack for a team of nine on the field at one time.

Sinton scrimmages Moody on saturday before their opener against Alice on Feb 19th at Sinton. That was a horrible scrimmage for TM on Saturday, I don't think we had one hit!! The Sinton pitchers looked good, they should have a good season again this year. Our boys got their tails ripped Monday in practice and came back last night and beat King 13/3 in the drizzling rain and cold weather.

TM beat Robstown last night in a 10 inning scrimmage 11/2 Moody beat Robstown 8-2 last week. Moody beat Sinton 11-1 last night. Sinton from as long as i can remember when they play at Moody field they forget how to field a ball. Moody looked sharp both sides of the ball. Bad scrimmage over time for the season to start. Alice at Sinton monday.
