Magnolia, Tx has a population under 2k and they have two 5A schools. Magnolia and Tomball is mostly urban sprawl in unincorporated areas out from 290 & 249. People looking to get out Harris County Just because the city is small does not mean the school has low attendance numbers. Aledo has a population of 3700 yet they are a 5A school with 1700 students. Floresville is nearly 8000 in population but with a student population of 1200. Those school just have more people living outside of the city limits is all.

Calhoun is the only high school in Calhoun County. The population is around 22,000. Last I heard. But the HS enrollment is in the 1100 range.

I'll be very surprised if Calhoun remains in 5A

Aledo ISD draws from Annetta North, Annetta South, Cresson as well as the Willow Park communities boarding next to Aledo city limits. By virtue of that the Aledo ISD is quite large but still has a lot of undeveloped land within all of these communities currently. However, there is a lot of development starting to pop up around there and there is a good chance that in this realignment Aledo is on the brink of 5A DI and in the coming years could go the 6A route because they are trying to hold the one school together for as long as they possibly can. They may try their luck in 6A for a while but at some point there is a good chance that they split pending the economy continuing to support the development. I work with an Aledo dude and have a good friend in the development industry that is privy to what development is coming out west of Ft. Worth. Folks there are trying to hold steady until the student growth is enough that it would then be able to support two competitive programs. More less trying to guard against splitting too soon to try an avoid Aledo High struggling with the trials and tribulations of being sent back to the dark ages and the new high school having a fighting chance at being competitive early in it's inception.

urbuddha I deleted the post because that is for 2020-21. Exactly, these are the numbers we want. The numbers turned in on last Friday are for the 2020-2021 season.
