Know I'm going to catch a lot of flack over this, but if there was ever a year for opposing coaches to call 3 game series against both teams, then this is the year. Just my 2 cents and I'm no coach, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

To take 2 from either team would a very tall task for any team. I still Think a 1 gamer against these two is the safe pick.

That's just my opinion and I could be wrong, but don't see either team matching up well against a team with some pitching depth.

Congrats to Moody. It appears Moody had the best team today and Calallen has not peaked yet. Going to be interesting in the playoffs.

Just my 2 cents and I'm no coach, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. No flack from me, but Moody would stand a much better chance than Cal in a three game series in the playoffs. Our chances are about the same in one gamer based on what I've seen this year as long as the opposing team's pitcher isn't throwing straight down the middle heat. We can hit that pitching all night long (see Ray this year with their ACE when we pounded them in game one and they lost the game when they brought him in game two). It's when we see off speed and pitchers who love to play the corners, we can't hit worth a darn. That's how a forth place Somerset last year kept us to one run and a third place Valley View to two runs. And it's been a trend for more than a few seasons now in the playoffs. I saw the box score for last night's game and the same two hitters who have been consistent through the season accounted for five of our six hits. The batting order was shuffled around and that didn't quite workout and that has been an issue this year. The team batting average probably is very reflective of the record this season. Like I said on another thread, whenever this season is done whether this week or in six, some soul searching needs to be done by all involved. It will be seven seasons since we've been to Round Rock and only one season in that span we made it to the regional final and this is with talent that many programs would love to have even a small slice of. Let me be clear. I'm not saying coaches should be asked to leave or the whole city has to destroyed in order to save it. But just a simple get back to what used to work approach needs to be looked at starting with next January when the season starts with a strong statement that all positions are open and what you did in whatever select leauge over the summer or prior to high school ball is not appliacable. I know I'm probably a minority in that view point, so be it.

Though I thought they hung in there nicely in this series with Moody going 3 games. They had the chance to win it, but in the end walks, pass balls, and clutch hitting by Moody was the difference. Overall I am a little more encouraged after this series, hopefully the team will focus on the positives to correct the negatives.

Cal started with a young team and only two returning starters and has improved greatly. Going to be interesting to see what has been gained after being pushed and tested by Moody.

what we learned is that Calallen can push a better team to their limits (a good sign for us) and Moody can withstand being pushed to the edge. Positives for both going into the playoffs.

WHAT A SERIES! Congrats to both teams and should be an exciting playoffs. Calallen does looks to have a favorable road while Moody will have to go through teams like King, Tivy, and Medina Valley but heck its the playoffs and no series or game is easy. Would love to see Round 2 for Round Rock between these two great programs.

We haven't looked like world beaters in our round one games in a few years and that was against some teams who were .500 or even below,

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this rivalry is officially only 10 years old. Before 2007 it's was unofficial games here and there if that. The match-ups were generally all mythical and on paper. who could out last the other, heck the caller times even wrote an article in 2006 in anticipation of the official start of this mythical rivalry. Who could have imagined that it would greatly exceed anyone expectations. Both programs have 3 plus decades of greatness under their belts, but the last 10 years have been nothing short of amazing and have provided my family and I a lot of great memories. Here's to whoever pushed that realignment 10 years ago

Here's to whoever pushed that realignment 10 years ago Yea it only became a rivalry when Moody dropped down a class and that was about ten or years ago. In fact other than maybe a tourney game, I don't think Cal and Moody even faced each other for many of those years. The most anticipated games for Cal where the Robstown matchups.
