This new district realignment has me wondering what's wrong with the uil sending Calallen all the way to eagle pass. Oh well...not exactly sad about that lol

GP lost a lot of players. 7 of the starting 9 were seniors. Plus top pitcher is gone. There is some talent returning, last years junior class has some good players. Have some holes to fill, but it they find some answers in outfield, they should be very competitive again this year. Can't wait for the season to start.

Oh well...not exactly sad about that lol The alignment didn't go as I thought it might. Hate losing the Victoria teams in District 30 and Calallen got a raw deal. District 30-5A still might be the toughest BB district in the state with the additions of Carroll, King and Ray. Great District in terms of travel. Ought to be packed stands for every game, both home and away.

Speaking of home and away games...Is it really much of a home field advantage when you move from one dugout to the other at Cabaniss field between say for example Carroll vs Moody or King vs Ray? I know they have done it for years but now all CCISD schools twice a season. At least it's a top field to play on. I guess they could go back to having more games at D I C K Runyon Field(I had to space so it wouldn't do this to **** Runyon Field). With all the CCISD schools in the same district now, will they have to play games every night at Cabaniss Field or two games a night 5 & 8? Or start using their practice fields? It should be interesting playing 9 schools on one field. This district realignment has more issues than the usual UIL BS and then on top of that by moving Calallen and Alice out of the district. I can see moving the two Victoria schools out.

Not like other area teams have to travel very far.

Well how did everyone's first scrimmages go yesterday? TM had a three team scrimmage with Carroll/Miller yesterday. I was able to catch the last part of the Carroll/TM scrimmage. Carroll won 4/0. Both teams were playing some young players and trying out some pitchers. The Miller/Carroll teams were scrimmaging when I had to leave and Miller was up 1/0 after two innings.

Calallen, also, had a 3-team scrimmage, which included John Paul and Ray. I saw the first scrimmage between JP and Calallen. I lost track of the score, but it wasn't close. JP will struggle this year. With JP playing Ray next, with me not having a kid and not dressed for the weather, I didn't stay for Calallen and Ray scrimmage. Calallen traditionally has a lot of football players on the baseball team. This team more so than most. Depending on the line up they will have 7, 8 or even 9 in the starting line up. The only reason I point this out is because they may take time to get back in the groove compared to a team that has a lot of starters playing baseball almost year round.

Trojans Came out strong tonight...great pitching, Marcus pitched a great game tonight, good execution at the plate. Loved seeing them swing away instead playing small ball. Some really nice plays by the defense. A great job all around
