Question? As a Coach in a one game playoff scenario. How do you address your team Pre game. Win or were done. The kids already know that. Could put pressure on young men and that's not always a bad thing. OR Go out, Have fun, Play hard and lets see what Happens. I'll talk from our perspective now. We lost last night 3-0. But we left 8 runners on base in scoring position. I'm telling my team that we are fine. The only thing we need to do is finish. We need to pick those guys up and score some runs. Be selective at the plate and play small ball. Singles score runs.

Ok what about this. If you are a coach and you are playing a series would you consider waiting to have your ace pitch until game 2? Knowing that if you can steal game 1 against the other teams ace then you are in a really good spot. I believe that is what Mission Veterans plan was against Gregory-Portland. I heard the pitcher for them was their #2. GP threw their #1.

If your #1 cant beat their #2 then it really doesn't matter when you pitch your ace. I just would hate to burn my ace against another teams #1 and lose that game.

Ok what about this. If you are a coach and you are playing a series would you consider waiting to have your ace pitch until game 2? Knowing that if you can steal game 1 against the other teams ace then you are in a really good spot. Coaches only have their ace pitch game 2 when they know that opposing team will probably be solid and win game 1 with their respective ace. I've seen a lot of great coaches do it with really good ace pitchers.. I.e.: Jordan john in 2009 against justin meza n moody. Jordan john was the guy with more upside and probably just a little bit better than justin that year but hardly anyone could touch moody when justin was on the mound(I think they lost a gm1 to Alamo heights that yr but won the series. His only loss). John may have been the better pitcher(lefty hittin the low 90's) but chapman knew he wouldn't win game 1. john came a pitched great in game 2 before he was lost to tommy john in the fifth inning. The point is, the coach knows just how well teams match up in playoffs, hence some series being played over three days to two or one. That extra rest always helps. Just ask coach Rob zastryzny from calallen. He was a beast in getting them to the finals. Pitched 17.1 innings over two days. Two complete games. That's leaving it all on the field. Probably not a kid in 6a/5a in the area that can do that right now and be just good as he was. If there is then step up cuz I wanna see some good baseball!!

CP vs BC cancelled Thur. Was supposed to be at BC tonight but it was rescheduled again due to heavy rain down in BC. Now all three games will be hosted at Concordia University in NW Austin. Game 1 tonight and tomorrow Game 2 & 3 if needed. Nice turf field and a nice night to start this Area Series!
CP's ace Chris Paddeck will be on the mound tonight.

Was at the CP vs BC game with cpfbstatechamps27 last night and we saw a great game where Cedar Park's Chris Paddeck threw a 2 hit - 14 strikeout complete game in a 3-1 victory over Boerne Champion. With those 14 strikeouts last night, Chris set a new CP school record (breaking his last year's record of 124 strikeouts) with 134 Ks!
Game 2 & 3 (if needed) are today also at Concordia U. GO - TWolves!
