Only the top 2 finishers move on to State meet TWF Thanks clemensbuff didn't know that.. thought it was top four. Oh well... At least Jav gets to go in the 100 meter dash! I think it used to be TWF. I know that they used to have prelims and then the finals the next day but now it is just the top two from each region and just the finals race. I really think they should go to at least the top 3 moving on so that there would be 6 runners/teams in each race of two prelims with the top 8 moving on to the finals.

As far as I can remember it has always been the top two from Region move on to state, at least late 80's early 90's. What is nice now is that there are nine positions that go with the top two from each Region and then the next best time or mark for the 9th spot. This makes up for those tough Regions where the top two finishers could be ranked one and two in the state with the possibility of the 3rd place finisher still being better than any of the other Regional qualifiers from a weak Region.

Yes, I forgot about the last spot being based off of next fastest time in the state in the regionals. But, I still wish they'd take the top 3 or 4 in each region and have two prelim heats on day 1 and then a final heat on day 2 much like the regional meets work. This would give an opportunity for many more kids to experience the state track meet. It would be easy enough to sort the two prelim heats evenly by having the 8 fastest times split into the two heats and the 8 slowest times split as well. Then, take the 8 fastests times of the two prelim heats and move them to the finals.

Not a great showing by our Knights at the 6a meet this past weekend. our two fastest kids have been hampered by nagging injuries and it killed us as our 200m kid didn't even qualify there and had the fastest indoor 200 in the nation this winter. Neither of our two sprint relay teams finished in the top 6.
Boys 5th 100m 8th Longjump
Girls 4th Triple Jump
Congrats to the our District Brothers NB Canyon on 3rd place team finish and for the Judson girls for winning the meet for the 2nd straight year and being State Champs.
