I'm thinking eventually that 25-5a is gonna be all LISD schools plus Marble Falls and Dripping Springs or plus the Georgetown schools. A lot of people question the smaller schools thing, but it can be good for a district to have enough schools to get a district mostly to itself. Frisco seems to be really excited about the idea. That's also one of the main reasons they are renovating Memorial Stadium, adding an 8th lane to host the district meet.

Denton Braswell's colors will be black and red, with the mascot being the Bengal.

Denton ISD rezoning plan will be revealed in October. This is huge, as it could make all 4 schools 5A or as few as 2. Braswell will open with somewhere between 1000-1500 students.

Me and the wife plan on moving to Frisco. Pretty sure our daughter is going to Wakeland bc my sisters is a teacher there. But there's so many HS's to choose from.

Just depends on where you want to be. I will say this, not sure if your sister has pull, but if you want your daughter to stay zoned to the same school, move to an established school zone. Frisco, Wakeland, Centennial, and Liberty are the best bets, off the top of my head.

Proposed zones for FISD. I'm not sure how much longer they'll be able to keep these schools all 5A. You can see where Memorial will be right in Lone Star's current zone, and LS and Wakeland really need help. You can see HS #11 over on the far east (in McKinney), which will bail out the 4 other eastern schools in 2019, possibly 2018 if needed. friscoblog.dallasnews.com/2015/10/14085.html/

I know hindsight is 20-20, but it appears to me that FISD botched Independence High's placement. Not sure if they had the land at the time, but HS #11's location would have been perfect for the 2014 school. The section from Custer to the east is more built out than IHS's current zone, and it still would have relieved the 3 other schools in the area. IHS has always had weird placement being so close to the 3 other schools, but mainly Heritage. A better location would have probably been between Coit and Preston in 2019.
Similarly, you gotta think Lebanon Trail would've been better placed closer to or south of 121. While Lone Star might've been better off of FM423, it was built so long ago that it is hard to complain, and there could be another school someday to provide relief in that corner. A big problem is that a lot of these schools are too close, which makes zoning even more of a headache than it should be.
If this proposed zoning sticks, it appears there will be trouble down the road. As a disclaimer, I know there are so many houses being built, though, so the map should look different.
Memorial opens in 2017, so the zoning will be to relieve Wakeland, Heritage, and Lone Star. Looks to me like Memorial will start near the corner of LS and Panther Creek (relieving LS) and run east to Hillcrest (relieving Heritage), in addition to adding the block directly south from Preston to DNT and Main to El Dorado. This will leave Wakeland enough room to extend all the way to the western border between Main and El Dorado from the DNT. Lone Star would then have the portion from Panther Creek to El Dorado directly south of the school, and everything to the west and north.
The bigger issue is in 2019. Like I said, expect tons of growth in the area, but HS11 will probably go from Custer to the East. IHS, Liberty, and Centennial are now in a difficult position because Heritage is almost built out. If Lebanon Trail was further south, Centennial could retain the portion north of Lebanon, allowing IHS and Liberty to each get a small section west of Coit. That is not the case though.

Next year Reedy will be aligned into an all Frisco District and then what happens in two years when Lebanon Trail (and possibly another new Frisco HS join UIL varsity competition)? That will be schools 8 and 9. Will they have their own 10 team district? Also their feeder system is jacked. Kids in middle school can potentially go to different high schools. This is the Plano model and history has shown how well that model has worked out... They have one stadium coming (the Cowboys practice facility) but it's going to be a nightmare to get 11 schools to play in 3 stadiums... during district play they will be fine but what happens with pre-district or when they add High Schools 9-11 and are in two districts with each having a pre-district. Unless another stadium or two are on the way Frisco will have Saturday games. I already don't like Thursday Night games so I can see us not playing them in pre-district to avoid Saturday games. Only time I want to see a High School game on Saturday is in December. Only way I'd play them in pre-distict is if they agreed to play both games at my house...

Only time I want to see a High School game on Saturday is in December. Only way I'd play them in pre-distict is if they agreed to play both games at my house… Yeah, they'll have an all-FISD district starting in 2016 (8 schools) and probably 10 in 2018. I'm positive HS #11 will be 5A in 2020, but IHS could be close to dropping (I'm sure they won't, as there are likely a ton of housing projects in that immediate area that I don't know about). The schedule becomes very easy for those 4 years. In 2016-7, you''ll have 24 pre-district games in the first 4 weeks, followed by 4 district games a week, so no Saturday play will be required. 2018-9, there will LIKELY be only 10 games to be played in the first 2 weeks, followed by 5 district games a week, so still no Saturday play. During these times, the other high schools will be playing JV schedules at their respective school stadia. 2020 is when the most difficulty begins, as there will be 11 HSs. This is good news for Denison and Sherman from the perspective of close games, but Thursday and Saturday play will not be fun. I use LIKELY in 2018, as who knows if the conferences will be split at that time or not. Remember, there are no opt-ups between divisions in the split division setup.
