Still, numbers don’t lie. Being perhaps the smallest 5A school, with a brand new team and no seniors, they will likely not compete right away or even in year 2. Lack of stadiums will hurt the new schools. Financially I like what Frisco did with the nice stadiums (2 are part ownership/rentals) and the mid-sized schools that allow for better participation. If Frisco was one mega-school a lot of kids would not get to experience High School sports. However there are drawbacks to the model. A whole new set of problems will occur if FISD abandons the small school model now... I don’t see number of stadiums being an issue. 10 schools / 3 stadiums means that at worst there would be a 2nd Saturday game at one of them on week 1. After that, FISD controls the schedule and will have games at all 3 on Friday and 1 each at Toyota and the Star on Thursday. Not any worse than it is now. If FISD does go to 12 schools, there stadium issues could arise without a 4th stadium. What problems do you see with allowing the schools to grow past 5A?

Also it will be interesting to see what happens with the possibility of multiple divisions. Delaying opening the new campus this year put that program behind. Frisco could potentially have 4A D1 - 6A D2. I doubt the 6A happens because they will promise to balance the enrollment. The 4A D1 team might be jumped all the way up to 5A D1 if they decide to go with the 10 team 5A D1 district. A new program needs to establish a culture and a few years at 0-10 isn't the type of culture any coach wants to develop...

Could have a couple schools in D2, or 2 D1 districts. Staying at 10 means constant rezoning, possible magnet programs at low-enrollment schools, and eventually 6A.

Per Carl Padilla: Manor New Tech Titans will begin playing football in 2018. This will put Manor High School in 5A.

If so, Manor would be DI and depending on just how many from the Pflgerville ISD & Round Rock ISD Schools move down and Austin ISD schools will be in DI They’ll either be with the 3 LISD schools (Cedar Park, Leander, & L. Rouse) or a more Austin/South District. I see two DI Districts in the Austin area. Which Region is still debatable.

"According to one committee member, there are many different directions that Frisco ISD could take with its high school model, depending upon the survey results and the determination of the district. Frisco could eventually have 12 5A high schools, one 6A and 10 5A high schools, or six 6A junior high and six 6A senior high schools, according to that committee member." Whoa! I saw this article the other day but chose not to read. Six 6A high schools would mean consolidation. Oh my goodness! www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Frisco-Survey-Questions-Small-Schools-Model-454922333.html

The schools should keep their names and some would become high schools while others became Sr. High's. Very Planoesque of them... Ironically I've always viewed Frisco as Plano 2.0. I did like their small school model but didn't want to live there because of the constant rezoning and rapid growth. Now what happens to the original master plan? The locations of the existing campuses will make it very difficult to define the school boarders. Do they have set elementary schools, and middle schools feed into pre-defined high schools and Sr. highs, or do they go full Plano and just follow the geography? Plano did finally feed the High schools into the Sr. Highs, but the lower levels are all over the place. This will make youth sports with a football feeder system a near impossibility. Hopefully some folks with some sense will assist with a workable long term plan.

Otherwise, I’ve thought they have done a very good job of handling the rapid growth. I’ve always suggested that Anna should learn from Frisco, and they have. Better yet, they have learned from Frisco AND laid down a clean feeder system as part of the master plan. I can’t see Frisco having a clean feeder.
