"Troy Byrne will be the future Pebble Hills principal and is the current principal at the ninth-grade academy. He said the school will open with ninth- and 10th-graders and will offer varsity level team sports in the 6A Division." Is Socorro Pebble Hills going to be 6A in 2016? Elsewhere, I've read that the school will open this fall with 1000 students in grades 9-10. Naturally, that should be at 1500 kids in 2016, but surely not much more than that!?! El Dorado is currently at 3977 and will certainly take a large hit. By my estimates, there should be about 2500 students there in 2016, but that is variable. The max for both of these schools is supposed to be 2600. www.kfoxtv.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/Socorro-ISD-plans-Pebble-Hills-High-School-new-elementary-school-61587.shtml#.VTXFs_2NXwI

Socorro ISD currently had Eastlake in 5A.

Samething that may be misleading about that map is that they show the number of high school students in each attendance zone in 2016, but since not all grades will transition in 2016 to Shadow Creek, the actual numbers in each high school in 2016 will be different. Officials have given themselves till September to decide whether Shadow Creek will open with grades 9-10 or grades 9-11. It seems like a bad location, considering they are right next to the Pearland Town Center, the modern equivalent of a mall. With all the changes going on, it makes figuring out what Districts 23 and 24 will look like in 2016 difficult. Obviously 9-team District 30 with Veterans Memorial coming in and 6A's in CCISD dropping down will become a Corpus area only district (they'll like that) with the 2 Victoria schools going to Region 3. At least a couple of the 5A schools in 23, Ridge Point and Bush should be 6A in 2016 with Elkins on the bubble. Lamar CISD should be down to 3 schools in 2016 with new school Fulshear not having varsity yet and George Ranch going 6A.

So if I'm reading the data right, this will be Manvel's last year in 6a for at least 3 realignments most likely. Well, they better beat Katy this year for the region of that monkey will hang on their back for a good many years more!
I saw Manvel play Aledo in 2011 and was impressed with their size and speed. I thought we'd have seen them back in a title game by now by the looks of that team and the kids they have.

The district's "preferred" option is apparently to keep GR's boundaries as they are in which case they would definitely go 6A, but they may decide on a different alternative. FBISD did a rather comprehensive rezoning for 2015-16 and it remains to be seen how that affects the numbers. Ridge Point will still go 6A but I am not sure about Bush since some of the more "established" neighborhoods in the Bush attendance zone were removed. Plus FBISD could always decide to opt up everybody but Marshall and Willowridge, as I think having a nine-team 6A district would be ideal given the stadium situation.

FBISD keeps all their schools small for some reason. I passed by Katy Seven Lakes and that thing looks like a small college....it's huge....then you drive by FB Travis down 99 and it looks tiny compared to 7 Lakes. Doesn't look like it can hold very many kids.

Chevron letting go of 950 and gas prices expected to plummet next month won't help to get this thing moving.

You are probably correct. I think the reason behind it is that if they shuffle around the boundaries in the south part of the district, they're still going to need to build a new HS to relieve GR but now they'll have to deal with overcrowding issues at Lamar and Terry as well. Plus the growth in the northern part of the district means they need to account for the possibility of Foster getting overcrowded again even with the new HS.

Compared to Katy, FBISD is more sprawling... pull up the attendance zones on a map and you'll notice that the school zones in Katy ISD are about the same size as the ones in FBISD. In some cases the zones in FBISD are larger -- building large high schools out there would be a logistical nightmare. Plus FBISD kind of fell into the trap where the first couple of schools they built were small and it's hard to go to the large HS model later on. These days people who move there are picking it because of the smaller schools and there's never really been any push toward larger schools. A lot of the FBISD schools don't really emphasize football at all, either, so there isn't that push for bigger high schools either.

I'm thinking eventually that 25-5a is gonna be all LISD schools plus Marble Falls and Dripping Springs or plus the Georgetown schools.
