Cal's O should be better this year but they will "live and die" by their 4 LBs who are very good. Last year was tough, no doubt, but the D and especially those 4 kids were great to watch. No telling what could have been if they'd have had an offense that could have just kept them off the field a little bit.

Seven on Def. Count Lowarance who played several and its eight. On offense last year starters were. OL Ryan Taylor Shawn Vickers Zach Rousell QB Derek Schible RB Robert Maldanado now inside reciever WR Dallas Winteroud Christian Crossland And one reciever who got beat out of a starting job. I count 7 on offense as well. Thank you for the more detailed take. I'm excited about that kid that was running the ball a bunch the other night.

Cal's O should be better this year but they will "live and die" by their 4 LBs who are very good. That in itself will not be a bad thing if the offense will capitalize on the field position they will receive thanks to the defense and with consistency. That was our problem last year-consistency.

Saw a video on callertimes looks like a monster D but hows the O? The O has some size on the online, but lacks experienced depth. However they have looked well in both scrimmages. Against Rockport, several underclassmen got a bunch of minutes who might either suit up for the Jv or Varsity next week. They are handling their assignments well with the new scheme. I believe we have more speed this year as well.

In the last 2 scrimmages, #10 and #6 impressed me with the ball. I asked who they were. Never heard of them. As I kept asking around about the 2 "new guys", nobody had anything to say and they would immediately turn and walk away from me. I was getting the feeling that I was asking questions I shouldn't be asking. About that time, as I looked around the home stands, I saw a LOT of people looking at me and talking amongst themselves and even some younger kids pointing at me and talking to their friends. I wasn't sure what to think about all of this. I got this really uneasy feeling when I was walking out after the scrimmage. As I would approach people, they would just go silent and turn away. When I reached my vehicle, I was approached by three men I didn't recognize. They asked me why I was poking around asking questions about Calallen players and then accused me of spying for other teams or the UIL. I told them I have been a Calallen fan for 40 years and I was just curious who the new kids were. I'm not sure what happened next as the next thing I remember is waking up in the bed of my pickup parked in my driveway at about 3:30 am the next morning. Strangely, as I walked up to my door, I noticed that I had 6 small animal bones, a chicken foot, and some long black hair (like a horse tail or something) in my pocket. Weird. Anyway....Go Cats!
