You guys call us one dimensional. We do run 90% of the time, and when we pass it goes for big gains or even paydirt. 1 dimensional has scored enough points in every playoff game we have played to win those games. Or D is where we need to improve to beat teams like KT, CP, and the like. I believe it, but I don't expect you to... LMAO when you say these things about making big gains 90% of the time, and when y'all do pass it goes for big gains. This may be true when you are playing inferior teams, but when you get up there with the big boys, it is totally different, especially a team with the likes of C.P. They are a a better team than K.T. No one said we make big gains 90% of the time. What was said is we run 90% of the time. Keep laughing, though. I am sorry that I mentioned that the game I would like to see is PLC vs. CP. This site is getting hard to stay on with all the twisting of words and petty name calling. It would be nice just to come on here and read about football, but apparently that would be too hard for some to do.

I will give you my take on playing CP last year. Tivy scored more points on them than anybody last year and that was 22. I think you have to spread them out and be able to run and pass. They are big, fast and very smart. If you are one dimensional they will shut you down. I watched them play Tivy,Alice,Brennan and Lancaster last year. They are similar to playing a big 5a program. They have so much depth and when they substitute there is no drop off in talent. But I totally understand PL wanting to play CP and it would be fun game to watch. I would be there.

Nothing is wrong with it. It's your opinion like everything else posted on here. Just leaving out a lot of good teams between here and there and I thought it illustrated perfectly what CB was talking about. [/ I'm rather speechless that you would consider that cocky or unrealistic. All it's saying is with hard work and luck, there is no limits. Same can be said about everyday life. Your getting real picky as to what is appropriate and not. What are you talking about? I said nothing about your comment being inappropriate. I said there was nothing wrong with it in fact. Quit being so sensitive. Good grief.

I'e got friends in Refugio and we've talked about this....We agree that it is NOT a good idea for a 4A team to play a 2A team for political reasons only. Lets say PLC vs Refugio at a nuetral site. PLC wins big...It will be a 4A school beating up on a 2A school. Refugio wins big...PLC can't even beat a 2A school. I just don't see anything constructive that would come out of it... That being said....I believe it would be a good game!!! IMO I've seen Refugio play, they have a lot of depth (school enrolment must be all football players) so I think they could hang with most 4A teams. Could beat some of the weaker 4a schools but not PLC, may make a game of it for a while. The depth of PLC lines would get Refugio, still would be fun to see. Things would really have to go Refugios way to have a chance. Why nuetral site Refugios stadium holds over 6000 with a turf being put in this summer. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Well said Kramcat. I agree with you. I think Refugio could beat quite a few 4a teams and some 5a teams as well. But what you say about the line play is exactly right. This was the big difference between Refugion and East Bernard last year. EB 'leaned on' Refugio with their bigger lines last year and it made all the difference in the world in the 2nd half. I've always said games are won and lost in the trenches and the big nasties decide MOST games. The skilled positions can win games for sure but if the skilled positions are even close to being even, the game is won down low. I've no doubt if PLC & Ref played, the Bobcats would score on the Crabs. But I just don't think Refugio would keep pace and PLC would wear Ref down with their pounding run game. I to think the game might be close the first couple quarters but after that I think PLC would pull away big. I'm thinking something like 60-30 or thereabouts. Now, after watching East Bernard twice last year I will say this. They were the most complete 2a team I've ever seen. I think that EB team would not only beat most 4a teams, they'd lay the wood a bunch of them. I'm not talking about them beating the top 20-25 teams in 4a, but beating at least 60% of all 4a teams and probably 40%-50% of 5a teams out there. They were that good last year. I've never seen lines on both sides of the ball on a 2a team like they had last year. Very impressive. Not that they were 6'4" 300 but a lot of 6'1" 225-250 pound kids that were ripped, fit, and fast. As for this thread, the 4a teams I'd love to see my Knights play in some non-district games in R4 would be....(I'm not listing teams we play now or have played before when we were 4a. Alice Brennan Calallen CP FB GP Leander PLC Rouse Statewide, these would be my top 5 on my wishlist..... Euless Trinity SLC Allen Coppell DeSoto

You bring the hammer. Even if it complies with the rules. This has been mine and other experience with you in the past. Just an observation and om glad im no lobger the only one that sees this Other then that. Youve been a great moderator

In addition to my previous wish of a Flour Bluff and Kerrville Tivy game, (no offense to King or Carroll posters) i wish FB in the future would stop playing King and Carroll (keep Calallen) in pre-disctrict and replace them with two of the following: Tivy, Beorne Champion, Edcouch Elsa, Cibolo Steele, either Leander team, and/or a San Antonio team like Breckenridge or Alamo Heights. Nice stiff competition to help build both programs playing in these games. Hopefully that won't be an issue next year as far as Calallen being a non district game. But then again, knowing the UIL they could very well make both schools keep it that way another 2 years.

I really quequestion purplecrab at times. We in fact had very few players going both ways and won't have many doing it this season at all. As far as the difference between slot t and veer. Both offenses make you read your keys and thrive on undisciplined defenses. The difference is how well each team runs it. Plc runs the option to near perfection. Idk how well Alice runs the slot but if thwy run it like beeville did when soza was at the helm. Then they run it well too We had quite a few going both ways against Kerville. During the regular season you are correct, we don't have a lot going both ways. But in the play offs, the amount of players going both ways is much greater., My question to this is...............why? Did I not just read a couple of days ago on another thread about the HUGE participation numbers in PLC's program? This does not make any sense to me at all. On the talk of the triple option and how it would do against CP. Yes, I'd say PLC would score, and maybe even 26 points like one poster commented here. Maybe But, I'd like to point to what CP did to LT's GREAT offense in the 2010 and 2011 R4 finals and then ask you all to rethink this. 2011 LT 14 CP 9 2010 LT 21 CP 20 I think if LT only got 35 points in two seasons against CP in regional final games, the likelihood of PLC's triple option running attack achieving more than LT in either of those two years is not that great. Being very one dimensional is tough when you go up against a D with size, speed, and discipline! And believe me, I know how PLC throws for big gains and high percentage.......because I've read it here quite a bit. But what defenses did this happen against? My only point is that top notch defenses are very capable of shutting down even the most potent of run games in 4a and 5a football. As I've stated before, the ONLY team I can remember winning it all with a very heavy run attack was Liberty Hill and that was not 4a or 5a football. Can PLC win it all with this offense? I'd say yes, but it is not going to be easy and for it to happen the Crabs will have to field a top 5 defense to do it.

Big statement here. Last years Cedar Park team had one of the best defensive group of kids, that I've seen play hsfb. Better than the LT team of '08. They all know what to do and how to do it. All on the same page. Very discipline football. Combine that with great athletes, very hard to beat. Yeah they stumbled early on, but that was September football and by November they looked good. Scoring on them last year was a victory in itself. That good.. Now.. As far as their offense, Nate Grimme was a good commander on the field. Nothing fancy but moved the ball every play. When he went down, you could tell the offense wasn't as dynamic moving the ball, but still did. But it didn't matter. The cliche "defense wins championships" ugh hell yeah it did in 2012 for CP ^^^^^^^^^^^Very, VERY good post^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ CP's D has been this good at least the last 3 years and I don't see it dropping off much if any the next couple. They are big, fast, disciplined (well coached), and nasty. Their offense has never been anything to really write home about, just very solid and steady.....even with Hogan there when he was healthy. Sure, they'd light up some of the weaker teams they played but they have never had a top 10 offense IMO. However, they've had top 10 defenses the last 10 years and I'd venture to say top 5 or better. Hell, Denton Ryan's D in 2010 was getting all kinds of accolades, especially from the DFW media outlets. CP's D was better than theirs that year as well and LT fans will tell you the same thing. This said, you damn right defense wins titles! I look at LT's 5 in a row and I see two that were what I'd call offensive titles. The other three........give it to their defense cuz it was the best in the state. Everybody talks about their offense and rightly so, but their defense has trumped their offense the last 4 seasons!

I want to make one thing clear, in no way am I predicting or saying Calhoun would win over a program like CP. What I am saying is Calhoun offers something that most teams do not see much anymore, ala triple option. Now CP defense is as good in highschool football as they come, no matter how many "A's" you have, 4A, 5A etc. I do believe we could score points. I don't know if we could stop them. It would have to be a perfect scenario for that to occurr. The odds of that happening are not great. Earlier FB moderator guy, chastised me saying the following. If you work hard, and with a little luck, the sky is the limit. That is not a predicted win over CP. That is saying good things come to those who work hard. As for calhouns odds of a 4th round match up all depend on one game, @calallen. So what I am saying, is it may not have to be a fourth round. It could be the second. But time will tell. Really? So, Calallen is who knocked the Crabs out last year? You see, this is exactly what everyone is talking about. You are discounting a bunch of other very capable teams out there......one that sent you home early last season. It is statements like the this above that people on here read and comprehend as arrogance. It is like you are saying the only team that can keep you away from a matchup in the regional finals is Calallen when in fact just 10 months ago that was proven wrong. You state above "good things come to those who work hard". I completely agree but do you think your kids at PLC are working harder than the kids at a bunch of the other schools out there? I'm not trying to be a SmartA in any way. I just want you to realize that the kids at other schools are working every bit as hard as yours. Hell, we are blessed at Steele to have a tremendous amount of Blessed athletes coming through our doors for sure but I'd be willing to bet you your paycheck against mine your kids at PLC are NOT outworking ours at Steele. Our kids have had 1 week off all summer and that was this week. They've had strength and conditioning going on every day otherwise and football camp next week before two-a-days start. Our weight room is open 9-10 hours a day and I'd challenge anyone to come by at any time and find less than 20-25 kids in that weight room and that does not count the kids that are working out at other places like the YMCA, Athletic Republic, etc. We've had several kids transfer in from schools like Reagan & Mac and they have said they simply cannot believe the difference in the programs and the workouts and work ethic when they get there. Look, all I'm saying is that all the kids out there are working their tails off all year long, it is not just at one or two High Schools.

I agree on CP. Shootout would be not to PLC's favor. A low scoring game would be much more favorable I think. PLC would have to execute flawlessly and get it done 3-4 yards in a cloud of dust. Pound pound pound and pound some more. Then, throw in a little play action on 1st and 10 or a 2nd and 2 and catch them off guard and get a good gainer down the field. The problem is the discipline at which CP plays defense. The kids have so much athletic ability they can actually 'cheat' on assignments a bit and not get burned for doing it. I do think it could be a good game if it happened and PLC could win. It would take an all out team effort with GREAT effort and execution. PLC will have to improve defensively to give themselves the chance to take that 'next step' IMO.
