So do any of us keep up with basketball at all?
Thinking about going over to the Guyer boys' game tonight, though the team is depleted right now (and hopefully will be until after Christmas.)

Some do with great intrest and support, but a lot of the Coastal Bend folks are more about fooball and baseball. Baseball is a big deal around here with less fans than football but the basball fans are rabid as this is a hot spot for Texas HS baseball.

My old high school in Tennessee was weird and basketball was a bigger deal than football, lol.

How 'bout them Clemens Buffaloes at 11-5 and #9 in the city! They already have more victories than last year all together. Bunch of sophomores on the team and we got a really good Sr. who moved from Chicago whose dad was in a basketball movie, among others. Real legit team right here!

District undefeated Laredo Nixon(11-0) plays @ FB(7-4) tonight @ 7pm. Laredo Nixon travels well and the atmosphere should be fun.
The Bluff is young and locked up at least the 4th spot for the playoffs. Our 10 man rotation is made up of 3 seniors, 3 juniors, 3 sophomores and a freshman. Hoping to finish strong.
If you have not caught a game this MIGHT be a good one.

Little bit about the Hornets basketball team in todays Caller Times. Love those 6'9" transfers in. :-) When football ends Cody will make the other of the new twin towers at 6'6"
CORPUS CHRISTI — Having successful football and basketball programs is a luxury many local high schools do not get to enjoy.
For those schools, as well as the contingent of players involved solely with basketball, Wednesday could not come soon enough.
Wednesday, after all, marked the official start of practices for boys basketball teams for the 2013-14 season. The girls began their practices Oct. 16.
One area school that does have a chance to follow a successful season on the gridiron with one on the hardwood is Flour Bluff.
The Hornets’ success on the football field, however, is bound to affect the basketball team.
“As far as our football success is concerned, we’re probably going to have five or six players coming directly from our varsity football team that’ll be on our varsity basketball team,” Flour Bluff coach Robert Dodd said. “Would I like to have all six or five of them now? Yeah. But, it’s just something that because Flour Bluff is so successful in football, we’ve become accustomed to doing the past four or five years.
“We wait for those kids to come over and then they come over and help us win some games. It is what it is. We just have to prepare and get better with the kids we have.”
Flour Bluff returns three starters from last year’s team and welcomes 6-foot-9 Tyler Barlow, a transfer from California.

I wonder if Tyler is interested in being the backup QB. He would be the 2nd tallest QB, after that 6'10" one in Arizona.

GP beat Calallen 54 to 34 and game was wider margin up until last quarter. GP has a young team and the Sophs. Are learning.

Clemens is #6 in the state and looking hot. I seriously think it'll be us and Heights (#1 in the state) that will meet in the R4 final. Go Buffs!
