Not so fast my friend Tivy and AH will be in the mix. Dont count us out just yet. We can play a little football up in the hill country as well.

Leander and Cedar Park are both good enough to win a state title. Whoever finishes 3 and 4 in the district will be good, will make runs, and can pull an upset...but are not strong enough overall to win the whole thing. If Leander is in D1 and Cedar Park is in D2 they will probably both be the favorites in their respective brackets to take down the region. If Cedar Park goes D1 then they will be co-favorites. The biggest threat to Leander assuming Cedar Park goes D2 to me is Calallen (if they are in D1). After that GP and maybe Hays in a second round matchup. I think those are about the only teams in R4 that can beat them. For CP (assuming they are D2) the biggest threat is probably PLC...then maybe Tivy or Alamo Heights or possibly another game with CP Vista Ridge. 25-4A is the strongest top to bottom, then closely followed by 30-4A and 27-4A. If CP goes D2 I actually think D2 will be a tougher venture than D1 for the region anyway...but D1 will definitely be tougher across the board (after regional finals...i.e. state semis and state title game.

I agree with your thoughts. CP will be the favorite in D2 all the way. All I will say is Tivy will not lay down for anybody in the playoffs. We will bring it until the end. We may not win but we will give them our best shot.

Cross...I believe you are giving Calallen a lot of reputation points. This year's team has been a struggle virtually from day one and they really can't afford to make many mistakes and still be in games unlike some years past. Unless the offense can really turn a corner in the next couple of weeks I don't see the defense being able to continually bail them out forever and that could mean an early exit from the playoffs and possibly even a less-than-10-win season for only the 2nd time in 20+ years. I hope the light comes on for them and soon.

Are they insane? Even with Dodge, nobody should have expected an immediate turnaround. Dodge had a great program at SLC. Before and after SLC....NOT SO MUCH! Truth. And SLC is/was a great program, both before and after Dodge.

Dodge had a great program at SLC. Before and after SLC....NOT SO MUCH! Only because of talent. What a good example, isn't it? I wouldn't say that. SLC was in our district the last two years. Their talent isn't overwhelming... what they do is they execute better than any high school team I've ever seen.

Tom...what in your opinion makes them so great each and every year? It's an all white school...no huge athletes...some speed...why each and every year? IMO...they seem to have a coaching staff that does more with less...

Guyer probably had better athletes, but what they do better than anybody is execute. No missed tackles, stupid mistakes are kept to a minimum. They're a lot like Lake Travis, really. Similar schools, similar surrounding neighborhoods.

I obviously wasn't around the 4A board before this season, but when you talk about why Lake Travis beats teams like Pearland Dawson, the reasons why Southlake Carroll beats teams like Dallas Skyline are more or less the same.

LT is perfect on almost every play. Kickoff teams run down at the same time in their lanes. Kick is deep and high to the goal line where the player must run with it. Defense has all their asignments and check offs every play. They swarm to the ball and form tackle. Offense pass blocks very well. WRs run perfect routes and can catch in traffic. LT is a machine. Practice and practice. I've seen them 3 times in 3 different years with different HCs, different players the results are always the same. As the 5 SCs in row would confirm

Sounds quite a bit like SLC.
