Go there by way of Hebbronville and have the team eat at Frank's Cafe if they really want to know what's at "steak!" Tell Big Bob and Pero that JD sent you! Better yet JD, we will be stopping at LA la's in Mirando City. Best Mexican food and homemade hamburgers I have ever had. Great choice sotex...haven't been there, but have heard nothing but great things about it...

I am not going to be able to make the game tonight. I had someone lined up to purchase some animals for me at the fair tonight, but he had a family emergency. I will be listening on the radio. This game scares me, because we have been inconsistent throughout the season. Chris said the kids had a good week of practice, so I hope they are ready to go.

www.sportcitymagazine.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=159:hs-football-alaniz-to-start-at-qb-for-coyotes&catid=24:football&Itemid=89 The Alice Coyotes began the season crowded at quarterback. They had starter Oscar Resendez and back-up Andre Saenz, who was a part-time starter in 2011. However, going into the game eight Saturday night in Laredo, the young man under center for the Coyotes is Mark Alaniz. A junior, Alaniz moved to the top of the depth chart after injuries to Resendez and Saenz. Resendez left Friday night's game against Corpus Christi Moody with an injured finger on his right hand. Coaches said Resendez could return, but most likely only in a defensive role. Saenz started for the Coyotes in the Flour Bluff game, but was injured a week later against Laredo Cigarroa. Jon Jaramillo is being moved up from the junior varsity to serve as Alaniz's back-up. It's a less-than ideal scenario, but one Alice coach Chris Soza said should workout well, especially in the Coyotes' multiple Slot T offense. "We're confident Mark can do a good job for us," Soza said. "In our offense, the role of our quarterback is to manage the game, and he can do that. We have our offensive line and our backs, so it should be fine." Alaniz first saw playing time when Saenz went down in Alice's game against Laredo Cigarroa. He also filled in for more than half of the Moody game Friday after Resendez left the game. He finished the game with three carries for 40 yards. He also completed two of six passing attempts for 28 yards. The Coyotes are traveling to Laredo Saturday to square off against the Nixon Mustangs. The Mustangs are a big and physical squad, but they're 2-2 in District 31-4A. They beat Cigarroa, 31-3, and then lost a 50-41 shootout to Corpus Christi Ray a week later. That's the same Ray team which beat Alice, 43-28. Nixon followed that by beating Moody, 38-20, and lost to Miller, 38-35. Alice is 4-3 for the season and 2-2 in district. A win Saturday would put the Coyotes a step closer to a playoff bid.

Alice has been inconsistent this season and will now be without their starting qb for the game. Nixon was able to shoot it out with Ray a few weeks ago so they're very capable of getting a "W"

Alice will be without Resendez at QB. for the rest of the year. He will be able to play defense. No idea when Saenz will be back. Mark will have to fill in for the time being.
