I have followed Coach Sosa over the years and I assure you the foul play of the Alice Players will get addressed and we will soon see in a few weeks when FB plays Alice. The Coach has to read the player the riot act and then not leave him down. He has to find some way after the chewing out to compliment him on something and encourage him to do better. He can't afford to leave him down.

I know Chris personally, and I had the honor of playing with him. I see him from time to time and he is very tight lipped, when it comes to discussing his team, other than the fact he can't do the kind of conditioning program when we played, and that is understandable, because kids in general, aren't in as good of shape as they were when we were growing up. What I don't understand, is why he is allowing all these cheap shots to continue. This has been a problem since he got here, and I know he does not condone it, but he needs to address it. These kids should be doing extra work after practice, not be allowed to start the next week, or simply kick them off the team.

Not piling on but I think it fair to him to say he inherited the problem not just since he got there. I hope he gets it in hand as Alice deserves better.

I want to add work ethic...I want to use my son as an example...in 7th grade, he was small, soft and had the blazing speed of a turtle, but he could tackle. Coach selected him to play QB/LB on the B team. He hit the weights in offseason and was there in the weight room every summer day with 1-2 others in his class. 8th grade, he was B team once again...he hit the weights even more with the same 1-2 in his grade every day in the summer. Last year he was again B team, but the hard dedication and work ethic he put in was starting to show and after 3 games, was moved up to A (Red) team starting at OLB/QB playing the entire game. He still worked his butt off in the weight room and now about 7 of his classmates are lifting with him. 7 is all we can get??? My son was not given God given talent and speed. With his dedication to working out and sending him to Henry Hall for speed and agility training, my son earned his way to where he is today at starting safety. But only more than a hand full have adopted this work ethic. The so called "Talented" players are at home playing Madden sharpening their skills. We have an O lineman who could be playing on Saturdays in a few years if he's put down the donuts and the TV remote and work at being a O lineman. But this kid will be playing JV ball next year again because he's soft. The core of our kids have no work ethic and just expect it to be given to them. Coach A is trying to change this, but he has a LONG way to go. May not want to hear this, at Refugio when they have the Coach supervised work outs they have 90 or more attend. With only 100 boys in high school its hard to believe but at Refugio they count all the kids from soon to be 7th graders to the 8th. The Jr highs are coached by the same coaches at the varsity level. The Jr highs are on the field at 7 in the morning. Most of the varsity players have had the same coach sence 7th grade. The youth teams try to run whats going with the Varsity if they have the tallent and most of the time they do. Thats why the 4As schools in Corpus are behind the curve, by the time they reach high school they are playing catchup. Not putting them down just something i see. Refugios Jr highs have played some of the undefeated jr highs in Corpus and they where light years behind on the fundamentals. Well this is why Refugio does a good job with its football. The 7th graders perform at a 8th grade level and our 8th graders could beat some 3a freshman teams. The 8th grade has 23 boys on the team, thats every boy in that grade.

Not all CC area schools are the same. Flour Bluff is all one campus preschool - 12 and all one athletic staff and coaches. Continuity for academics and athletics.

I know FB and Cal were not included in that, Im just a lazy typer and your programs show the results.

[/quote]........Another way to look at this, FB and Cal play these other teams Im talking about and win by good margins. Does that mean they are good or average playing a lesser team. Other parts of the state play a higher quality football so in reality turning out better football players. If you are not pushed how do you know what good is? Some coaches get by putting out an average or worse product. Dont spend the time to get it right? Refugio gets the most they can out of its players, if their going to play they might as well. Those boys go all out for those coaches and they love the game. So is Refugio exposing what its district is and they dont like it.

I am VERY concerned about our sub-varsity. My sons JV red team has a pretty good defense and is leaps and bounds better than last year. But our offenses are lacking horsepower. To me it starts with the line and QB. Those lineman should be hitting the blocking sleds each and every day because our lineman are not firing off the ball. We have a few athletes on both sides of the ball but no where near our opponents. Offseason is where you build athletes and we're just behind in this area with the sub-varsity. I do not think our Jr High coaches are doing a good job selecting kids for positions and then coaching. It all starts with Jr High. My sons soph class were 7-2 as seventh graders, then 2-7 as 8th, 2-8 as 9th and are 0-2 on JV this year. Right out of the box as seventh graders they won games and the 2 games they lost were by a combined 4 points. Only to be blown out the following year still under Harris' system. 8th grade coaching and or offseason to me was the blame. And we've never recovered. Because of this, we may be in trouble in a couple years. But I believe coach A has a plan for this and has already shifted kids around. My son for example no longer QB's and was moved from LB to safety. The high school coaches are doing an awesome job IMO, but we're behind in the O line and QB position, although our JV QB is getting better. His short passes have gotten sharp, but has no touch on deep passes. We have a good, quick RB, but he can't beat three defenders constantly in his face. My son said when he was QB it was so bad, that on a pass play he has 1 second to throw the ball before he was sacked. If I were coach A, I would make it mandatory that lineman on both sides of the ball be in powerlifting. Yes we have a serious problem and I AM concerned.

gp4life, I deleted your comments for a couple of reasons. One you identified the person you were responding to. That is a no no on here. Second you went into publicly criticizing a kid who other than by relation has nothing to do with the behavior that upset you and did not deserve to be even graded in a public forum. And last of all...the post you were responding to is from last September the 9th, 2012 almost a year ago and the member who posted it is no longer on this forum.
