With Lake Travis going to 5A Region II and Steele in 5A Region IV, could there be a Lake Travis vs. Steele State Championship game in the works? A rematch of that 2009 clash in 4A Region IV Round 2, where Lake Travis held off Steele at the Goal Line?

That really is a good possibility of that happening, but I think it will be LT vs Katy in the 5A-II title. However, the Knights will put up a good fight against the tigers.

Well, Steele will have to get through some very, very good teams in R4 first before worrying about Katy, or anybody else in R3 for that matter, much less LT in the title game. We held up our end of the bargain the last two years but Katy got beat last year by LaPorte in the 3rd round.......LP then got rolled by Port Arthur Memorial who we then took to the woodshed in the semis.
IMO, 4 of the 5 best 5a teams in R4 will be D2 this year with Steele, SV, Reagan, and Brandeis all locks for D2! It will be no easy chore winning the region, that is for sure.
By the way, that 09' game in the Alamo Dome was one of the best I've ever seen. Both teams left it all on the field and in the end LT stepped up at the goal line with less than 30 seconds to play. Steele actually outgained LT in that game about 400 to 270 but two TOs killed us in that game. They turned both of those TOs into two TDs and that was the difference in the game. I seriously think that game is what set the tone for Steele to make the two deep PO runs we've made these last two years.

STeele has a chance to be very good once again if the new SR QB can get comfortable. He is a damn good athlete and has been groomed for this for a while. HIs pops was an all-state LB that played at Judson back in teh day with Jinks and then played at BYU Our other areas that must be addressed are replacing two damn good OLBs, two CBs, and shoring up 4 O-line positions. I've heard the line looks awefully good to start the first week adn that they are huge and NASTY. But we all know that the O-line is the definition of the word 'UNIT' and that they must 'gell' together to be good. If these things happen, we could make a run. Also, I believe SV is going to be very, very good with 9 defensive starters back and an abolute beast at RB! They are not real deep so they must stay healthy and if they do, they'll be a handfull to deal with. D2 has some awefully good teams in R4 this year!

I think LT can hang with most 5As but it's gets pretty tough sleding when you take on the best of the biggest. We'll see. Good luck to them.

LT plays Converse Judson at Judson to start the season on 8/31. That looks like a good game to attend in the greater SA area. LT's schedule looks rather weak now that they are in 5A. The non-district schedule looks much weaker than previous years.

I just looked at Converse Judson's schedule for 2012. They have one of the toughest schedules in Texas. If they come out on top after that schedule then lookout!
25-5A - Converse Judson:
31-Aug Lake Travis H 7:30 7-Sep Steele A 7:30 13-Sep Churchill H 7:00 21-Sep East Central H 7:30 28-Sep Mary Carroll A 7:30 12-Oct Wagner A 7:30* 19-Oct Smithson Valley H 7:30* 26-Oct San Marcos A 7:30* 2-Nov Canyon A 7:30* 9-Nov New Braunfels*

They could easily be looking at 2-3 or even 1-4 going into district play as some people are saying that CH might have a good squad this year. If J-Rock can come into district at 3-2 or better, people better take note of them because I'll assure you they are going to get better and better under Smith as he gets them rolling into his offense.

I think Katy could give LT a run for their money this season... just a feeling.

I think Katy could give LT a run for their money this season... just a feeling. That dog won't hunt...LT is basically a football prep academy for the 'haves' not the 'have nots'. Think of them as the Texas Don Bosco Prep... my friend sent his kid there and he was ridiculed daily because they were driving a VW beetle versus a BMW 5 series or higher. Kid said he was basically black balled socially. I don't know how accurate this is, but I know the LT area and plenty of kids using grandma's address to attend.

Yeah, I have to use my sister in law's address to play golf on their course. I get a lot of crap for my Flour Bluff head covers but thats ok when I collect from "thier people." The bills are all new, crisp and in serial number order. Please bud.

I think Katy could give LT a run for their money this season... just a feeling. Very possible indeed. Maybe we'll see, maybe we won't. Katy was beaten by LP last year in the 3rd round and then PAM took LP out handily in the R3 final. I'm looking forward to a Katy vs Steele, SV, or whoever comes out of R4 D2 this year if it happens as there will be some really good football played in our region this year....especially in D2. Katy is traditionally a very good defensive team with is definately a plus in anyone facing LT. They also are a run dominated team with the ability to pass and that is without a doubt a must to be able to beat LT with their good defense. A run only or a pass only team is not going to stand much of a chance of beating LT IMO.
