Arevello threw some 2 weekends ago in a intersquad looked very good against our boys tonight I'm sure he be able to go 2-3 innings of work to get his bull pin in. I agree with you JD, it's time F-B steps it up with the talent they have returning I pick them to be our #2 team and having a shot at the Reginal Finals. Now on the other hand your coach has done in the past some things that I question as a fan (but whom am I). He will have to be at his best this year in the tight games which are won by the coaches. Can you give me the scoop with positions players or is that to early still. Sorry about my rant CB25...just got a little worked up. We scrimmage PLC tomorrow so I guess we will get an indication on positions then. We should have Mims and Winters in the middle and I think Ross and Fitzgerald have been playing the corners. I will find out more for you. Glad to hear that Arevallo is back and throwing. He had a bright future ahead of him and I wish him the best. Thanks for the update and keep us posted on how the scrimmages go. JD no need to be sorry, its baseball season the only thing better is to be with my maker playing baseball every day. Our Calallen vs John Paul II scrimmage game is reschedule for Tuesday at Calallen.

It was smooth sailing for most of the Xcellent 25 this past week, except for the Jesuit Tigers and Owasso Rams, each of whom lost their first game of the season.
Jesuit was unable to get much going on offense against Gulliver Prep and dropped a 3-0 decision. Owasso, meanwhile, played in the Lake Wales Tournament in Florida and lost a close one to Haines City, 6-3.
The losses knock both Jesuit and Owasso down toward the bottom of the rankings, but not out altogether. Four teams did leave the rankings this week, however, as Columbus (Miami), Flanagan (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Providence (Charlotte, N.C.) and La Cueva (Albuquerque, N.M.) all suffered losses and were dropped.
No. 1 Bishop Gorman got off to a strong start by winning all five of its games in the Desert Classic. A pair of Corpus Christi teams, Carroll and Calallen, move into the No. 2 and 3 slots after Jesuit's drop. Calallen has a big showdown against rival Moody today.
Moving into the rankings this week are Seven Lakes (Katy, Texas), Simeon (Chicago), Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and Mount Si (Snoqualmie, Wash.).
MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings presented by Army National Guard
1. (1 last week) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 5-0 The Gaels opened the season with five straight wins at the Bishop Gorman Desert Classic, including a 14-2 win over Juan Diego Catholic (Draper, Utah), an 8-1 win over Taylorsville (Utah), a 12-11 victory over Westlake (Saratoga Springs, Utah), a 4-0 shutout of Faith Lutheran (Las Vegas) and an 11-1 victory over Jordan (Sandy, Utah). Kenny Meimerstorf had a double and a triple against Faith Lutheran. Cody Roper homered against Juan Diego while Jerrell Latham had a double and a triple. Against Jordan, Joey Gallo and Meimerstorf each hit a home run.
2. (3) Carroll (Corpus Christi, Texas), 10-0 The Tigers topped Seguin 12-1 behind the pitching effort of Michael Cantu, who gave up one unearned run on five hits in five innings pitched. He struck out seven. Josh Cruz added a home run while Courtney Hawkins scored three runs. Carroll also pounded 14 hits in a win over Highlands (San Antonio) to claim an 18-1 victory.
3. (4) Calallen (Corpus Christi, Texas), 18-0 The Wildcats set up a showdown with Moody today by winning four games last week, including 4-3 over Sinton, 13-1 over King (Kingsville), 17-10 over Gregory-Portland (Portland) and 1-0 over Alice. Wyatt Mathisen leads the team with 20 RBIs heading into the Moody contest while Tyler Neslony tops the Wildcats with five home runs. Desi Castillo and Armando Arrevelo are both 4-0 on the mound.

As expected, the National High School Invitational shook up the Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings. Maybe not as expected were losses by Spanish Fork, Farragut and JW North that created massive shakeups among the Top 10 teams.
Both Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), last week's No. 1 team, and Carroll (Corpus Christi, Texas), last week's No. 2 team, lost a pair of games at the NHSI and thus dropped eight spots each in this week's rankings.
The drop allowed Calallen (Corpus Christi, Texas) to move into the No. 1 spot, thanks to a 22-0 record. Whether or not Calallen deserves the top spot will surely be answered in the coming weeks as the Wildcats face Carroll in a Corpus Christi showdown on April 21.
(I for one even tho I love my calallen baseball dont think our boys have been playing well enough to be in this spot, like i told the boys these are just numbers unless you finish what you started it dont mean a thing. We must get back to the basic and funamentals and PLAY TO WIN ON THE LAST DAY!!!!!)

It is an awesome think to be nationally recognized.........& well deserved. But we all know that rankings don't win you chit and the bottom line is another state title at 30-5 is better then a state runner up title at 34-1.
Hopefully the kids take these rankings with a grain of salt and just keep playing ball every game like they are capable of playing!

I'm not sure they've been playing like the #1 team in the country, but the rankings don't mean much if you don't win on the last day, as you said.

I'm impressed with the Bluff then...one bobbled chicken #@%7 hit to the pitcher (not a squeeze bunt, lol) and we would have beaten the #1 team in the NATION!

Good cast JD. Like a trout to the fly. nah...still haven't seen compelling video evidence. Your River Rat Pack and Stevie Wonder have proven it makes no difference to you when it is presented anyway. At least he has a legit excuse.
