Man, I remember when Walsh had a heck of a game against Steele in the SC game and almost won it all, but the Knights came through at the end. Amazing game too! But now that you guys are in 4a, a state title will be a no-doubter, right? Let's not get ahead of ourselves... still 16 games to play for that. I wouldn't say no-doubter. JT, CP, and a few others will all be in contention. I think I was thinking of John Tyler, supposed to have a killer defense this year.

Hey, now that I discovered there's a 4A forum too, I'm migrating from 5ATXFB! Welcome to the forum. I see some familiar teams on your schedule to way back in my playing days. WF, WFR we even played Denton non district one year. Brewer and Azle were tiny and Colleyville was practically still a one room school if you can believe that and wasn't accredited. Parents moved from there into the Birdville district so with our HS diplomas my brother, sisters and I could go to college. Dark ages, I know. Been living down here in Corpus for years now and still laugh at these guys thinking anything north of here is northern. lol

You sure are one busy person aren't you! I'd be lucky not being bored, much less pulling hair out! I'm glad i'm not going to be in the vicinity of Calhoun County in the meantime soon! Well my Buffalo Brother, my official title is Project Manager, but all the other titles I mentioned seem to tie in to my position. I put in an avg of 55+ hours a week or so and then try and get my choring done at home which is not always doable!

Hey, now that I discovered there's a 4A forum too, I'm migrating from 5ATXFB! Welcome Tom!!! Good to finally have a DFW poster here to give us all the 'scoop' on 4a ball in the metromess. You know where I stand on Guyer already. IMO, if the Wildcats stay healthy and just get better week by week, I believe we will see them play for the D1 title this year. Your Jr QB is a heck of a player and that Guyer defense is always salty!

Give our current admin more time. Haha. I'm blaming the Denton ISD school board for us dropping to 4A. Oh well, as long as we win a couple of titles while we're here. I would love to see Wilcats and the Raiders face off! It would be a good matchup I think but I'd give Guyer the nod these last two years at least. I watched Ryan face LT just before we faced you guys in the 4a D2 final in 2010 and IMO, Guyer would have taken Ryan handily that year for sure. Ryan had a good defense but no offense to speak of and to be 100% honest, that defense although having some truly stud players did not impress me near as much as all the hype leading them. Guyer's D that year was EVERY BIT as good as Ryans!

I think I was thinking of John Tyler, supposed to have a killer defense this year. Yeah, who doesn't think JT is a power? I agree on how good their defense is supposed to be. No doubt they should be very good. I thought I'd read somewhere that they returned a bunch on offense as well as they were a heavily Jr lead team last year. Waco Midway stomped a pretty good mudhole in them however in the semis and we all know that LT returned that favor to Midway the following week. Remember, Midway put up 51 points on JT in the semis and only managed 7 against LT in the finals! IMO, D1 final will come down to JT or Guyer out of one side, and probably Leander or CP out of the other side unless Pearland Dawson somewhere finds a hint of discipline. However, the GREAT thing about HSFB is that there are a number of teams that could step up big time in 2012 and make my first part of this paragraph look pretty dang stupid the week before Christmas this year! LOL

LOL Dang, JT sure was a young team last year. After that beating they got from Midway, that offense should've gotten better and maybe a potential top in the state, 4a wise. I think it will be Guyer vs CP in D1 state. I like the chances CP goes at it this year now that the LT roadblock is gone.

Now, with LT gone, I would think they'd have to be considered the region favorite in D1. However, being HSFB and having 'surprise teams' pop up from out of nowhere sometimes they will certainly have to still go out and earn it! I'd say R4 has a few good candidates this year to rep us in the finals of 4a for sure. Tivy may very well come back strong again even after loosing Smith and of course Calallen should be very strong once again.

But they'll still be very strong, even without QB Hogan. Once again, their offensive line will be one of the best (and biggest) in the state.

Saw an article on the DMN's website about Guyer's road to the title. I'm concerned that the kids will get a big head with all the expectations this season.

All he has to do is show him some tapes of Cedar Park the last three years when they played LT and that should keep them grounded. No doubt CP will be a different team after graduating their QB, Hogan as he was an outstanding player but they have it going well. I'd look for either them or Leander to rep R4 this year unless somebody from down here in the SA or CC areas can step up big time.
