I figured it was going to get rowdy, so I checked the radar and saw a lull between storms. I took off at 2:30am. My colleagues back in Stillwater are in the basement of the building.

Hurricane Beulah, the third largest hurricane of the twentieth century, swept across South Texas on September 20–21, 1967. The storm, which had previously ravaged the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, moved inland from the Gulf just south of Port Isabel early on the morning of the twentieth. It struck Brownsville with winds estimated at 140 miles an hour, moved northwest across South Texas to the vicinity of Alice, then turned southwest, crossed the Rio Grande between Zapata and Laredo, and finally blew itself out in Mexico. You need to worry about that suburb of San Diego you live in. Folks in the Bluff got enough blue tarps and duct tape to put together a reasonable facsimile of the Taj Mahal.

Good Lord, these tornados are horrible this year!
My buddy sent me some pics of a funnel cloud outside of his house in Denton yesterday. I don't believe they had any damage but just the sight of that SOB is enough to scare the chit out anyone!
Hurricanes are terrible but at least there is time to GTF out of the way. Tornados come on so quick that at best you may have a couple of minutes to prepare. And how the hell do you prepare for an F5 with 200+ MPH winds!?!!!!!!!!
I read a story on the Joplin tornado where a father said his son's seat belt was literally ripped off and he was sucked out of the top of the car through the sun roof. He has still not been found! I don't give a chit who you are.........that is flat out scary!
