Oh yeah. It took 4 weeks but I finally got my new tractor. It is an 8560 Mahindra. 83 HP (engine) 70 HP (PTO). I got the canopy added on as well as heavy duty forks, a bale spear, and a badtothebone hydraylic grapple. The grapple is awesome. I cut a big hackberry in about 20 pieces and my son had it on a burn pile with the machine in about 10 minutes 100 yards away. I also pulled out about 6 BIG mesquites that were laid over 2 summers ago when the hurricane came ashore and spawned a small twister knocking down 20+ trees on my place. I had cut all the limbs off of them and all that was left was about 10'-15' of the main trunks that were still halfway rooted in the ground. I put it in low range 1st gear in 4wd and it pulled them out of the ground at an idle and the grapple made short work of the heavy trunks. I also bought a new 8' cutter for it that works awesome. Here's a pic of it and the handsome owner. Here is a sequence of my 13 year old making short work out of part of the hackberry. We have loaded and hauled our last limb on a lowboy trailer to the burn or firewood piles!

Do you have a front end loader attachment for that bad boy? I just ask because it might come in handy around here come August with the GP vs Flour Bluff Super Bowl scrimage and the GP vs Alice game in September to be followed by the Flour Bluff vs Alice game. With the usual BS experts like FB Fan, King, John, and CPA producing it by the truck load, it's going to get pretty deep around here. A front end loader can help clean it up.

Clem, The tractor looks nice. Good to see you put your son to work while you concentrated on that nice cool beverage. Farm Tractor was what I first learned to drive when I was only 5. My Grandad let me have fun. I dumped a load of dirt back on myself when I did not pay attention to the bucket when I was pulling the levers. Good to see green grass than brown sunburned grass.

Nice looking rig. I've heard good things about Mahindra tractors. Whish I needed one, it looks like fun.
The first tractor I ever drove was an Allis Chambers, tricycle, it seemed huge, but I was only about 5. My dad let me sit on his lap and steer it. after he HAND CRANKED it!!!!

Oh yeah stff, it came with a big loader. Heck, the reason I got the loader and the 4x4 was because of how deep the BS gets around here come Fall!

I've got plenty of truck to pull it with but sure need a 24'+DT tandem dually 24K lb trailer! I don't believe it would do to well on a 16' lowboy rated at 7K gross! LOL I am going to run it across the scale soon at the feed store just down the road. Tractor and loader should be 9300+ but the dealer filled the back tires to the top of the rim with water so I'm betting it should be well over 10K now.

Thanks ccv! Yeah, the boy does a pretty good job helping me out around the place, especially when operating the new machine! LOL And tractor work is similar to operating a BBQ pit in that it is an 'automatic' cold beer moment!

I learned to drive tractor at about 7 years old or so on my grandma's little 35hp Massey. I would have sworn that was the largest tractor every made when I got to drive it! LOL It is hard to believe that my family farmed over 200 acres with that little Massey with 2 row planter and 5' & 6' implements! Times have certainly changed a bit when now people have huge tractors to farm the same amount of ground. I am definately in need of a nice, heavy, used 8' disc harrow if anyone knows of one. I'd like a bigger chisel as well now that I've got the machine to pull it.

The original IH Farmall A models were only about 18 HP. Later top of the line models were about 35 HP. Most common was 25 HP. They were designed for 1 man to farm about 80 acres. Usually using 2 row implements. The old rule of thumb was 1 man could farm 80 acres with a mule and make a living. Of course the wife kept a garden, chickens, a cow for milk, and a pig or 2 to fatten up. And the kids were free labor as well.
The tractor, while it made life easier for the 1 man farm, pretty much did in that type of farming. Now it takes hundreds of acres to make a living.
I spent many an hour on a metal pan seat of a tractor when I was younger.
