I get another chance to watch my son play HS football. He has been invited to play in the East-West Coastal Bend Shriner Classic High School All-Star Football Game. It's at Buc on May 18 I think. Looking forward to it! Congrats...I'll try to make it if there aren't any conflicts. You should be a proud Daddy and I'm sure Matt will shine!

I see we will be making the trip to K-town for this years anual Antler-Knight bash. Pretty sure the scoreboard will get tested once again! LOL

Most of my contacts had kids in school and have moved on. I never heard who is leaving with Mark and who is staying. I talked to some Judson supporters and they are scared of the wide open nature of Mark Smith's past offenses. They aren't used to the spread.

I talked to some Judson supporters and they are scared of the wide open nature of Mark Smith's past offenses. They aren't used to the spread. I heard that he brought the DC with him I believe. Well, I read and heard a lot of complaints the last few years out of Judson fans regarding the offense they had and how they were too predictable. I guess that won't be the case anymore, huh?! Seriously though, I've known Rackley for many years and a finer man does not exist. He loved those boys and his coaches with all his heart and I believe he gave that job all he had every moment. I'm very glad he won a title back in 02' because he deserved one. I think if the kids at Judson will just 'buy in' to Smith's game 100%, they will be unbelievably good in a very short amount of time. If he can get that offense rolling, they might even be a threat this year to do some damage. Historically speaking Judson has always played salty defense and I'm betting Smith will keep some of his better athletes on that side of the ball to remain competitive early while the offense is experiencing 'growing pains'. Well, I fully expect Tivy to pick up where they left off and keep on winning although it is always tough to lose such a great coach like him.

Neal Lahue was the HC and OC. When Lahue left, Julius Scott took over the reins of the Offense. Mark had a DC, but he kept his place in charge of the defense. I don't know who Mark has as OC at Judson, but I think he is a believer in the spread and will install it at Judson. I hope Mark doesn't regret taking the Judson spot. Kerrville is a great place to live and teach. He was well loved and respected. We'll see, soon enough, how it all plays out.

It is certainly possible this could happen. Judson is not the same Judson as the 80s, 90s, or even early 2000s. They had some great athletes even back when Tivy took it to them a few years ago! They've had lots of internal problems over the last few years, especially within the board and the superintendent. I think if he wins, all will be good. But, if it takes more then a year for the wins to really start piling up, he could be in a very 'hot seat'. That said, the fans of Judson don't care about district titles or even regional titles...........they expect state titles so anything less would not be a considered a success.

24-0 West at the half. Price looks very good for the West squad. East cannot get anything going. The y have played 4 QBs so far. Holder from Beeville moved the ball pretty good. Alex Trevino for East was murdering guys in the 1st quarter.
