SA Harlandale and SA McCollum appeals were denied… I agree with this decision. It just wouldn't make sense overall to create a 5 team district and a 9 team district if they'd allowed it. It isn't like these two SA schools are going to have to travel that far in the district they were put in. I'm sure they don't like it and know they stand very little chance of athletic success in it, but there are other schools in the same boat in tough districts.

The folks of Victoria sure aren't happy about it. I can see their point but can also see the point of the CC schools not wanting to travel to Victoria for games just as much.

That also kept ccisd with at least 2 schools in the playoffs that way in that district. Which is what they want these 2 years anyway...

Carroll would have still made playoffs... it would be Moody or Ray that would be out of luck... which West would score 100 on if they left their 1s in more than half the game.

With Brenda Marshall on the appeals committee Victoria West was screwed she knew West would spank Carroll... I’m understanding is that Marshall abstained from the vote. Corpus Christi ISD Senior Athletic Director Brenda Marshall and Superintendent Roland Hernandez, who is a member of the appeals committee, spoke against the appeal. Marshall said the current district has incurred increase financial burden because the Victoria schools objected to using officials from the local chapter, a point contested by Gantt. Hernandez, who did not vote on the appeal, said the Corpus Christi schools would have extra travel if West moved into the district. They spoke out against it I think with the other two San Antonio schools also trying to get out of the same district probably did not help West chances.

I knew the Harlandale, McCollum & West appeals were gonna be denied, if granted the schools in Boerne, Kerrville, Alamo Heights & Judson Memorial would’ve been promised playoff spots for 2 years. Victoria West gave this a gamble to appeal for financial & travel purposes from 3 hour to 1 hr & half but the dice didn’t roll & chips didn’t fall in their favor. Like I said everyone knew why the CCISD voted against Victoria West in the DEC for their reason …. Which was why I wasn’t a fan of that 11 team district which Alice & Calallen won their appeal to join CCISD & FB District in 2016 that turned out to be an abysmal nightmare
