Victoria East to Boerne Champion, 153 miles 2 hr 45 min drive...closest school is Seguin, 93 miles 1 hr 36 minutes. No doubt it sucks for VE. This is not the first time nor will it be the last a CB team gets put in with an SA area district. CC Carroll and King both spent a couple seasons playing in one about 10 years ago. I know lately, the Corpus schools have been getting sent to the RGV. I guess it might be a shorter trip there. I always wondered how Flour Bluff would fare in this district. But Victoria East is a barrier to that currently. We don’t even know how VE will do. I’ve never been to Victoria. It will be an interesting year.

Their twitter announcements have the team logos, not the name - but it appears to be SA Johnson Jaguars Lady Bird is the closest school to Pieper and will probably always be the natural neighborhood rivals.

I think if he would have stuck around they would have competed well in this District, possibly even competing for a playoff spot. They have a really good group of Juniors returning this year with some talented Seniors and Sophomores mixed in as well. Coach Reeve began the process of changing the culture at Vic East. I think Coach Ford will continue that process.

Vic Memorial was in the District with Judson, EC, Taft and others for about a decade, I think...... Didn't work out to well for them lol ..... . Victoria has also popped into the District with South, South East Houston area thru the years. The Crossroads is kinda in no man's land for a big 5A school. C'est la vie........

I see that they played them once in the 3rd round of the playoffs in 2002 and lost 58-21. Judson when on to win state that year beating Midland on a last second miracle. Interesting enough that was Vic Memorial's only playoff wins that season making the playoffs 4 other times but losing in the 1st round those other 4 years.

One of my nieces played soccer and volleyball at Vic Memorial it's last three years, 2007-2009. I'm pretty sure Wagner, Judson and EC were in the District. But I'm assuming the football district was different.

Has anybody looked into what Champion returns for 2024? My sources in that area are almost non-existent. I understand there is a pretty solid up and coming QB, but there is going to be a lot of youth.

As usual, will come down to how the OL/DL develop. Very strong group of to be sophomores, they’ll contribute a lot. They’ll contend for a playoff spot. Prob should contend to win district the following year.

I see that he has been competing in some big camps, and he has done a pretty good job of getting his name out there. Saw that he has a 247sports profile.

He’s the best thrower of the football they’ve had since the 2017 season. Style wise he’s Micheal Penix Jr. from U of Washington

I understand there is a pretty solid up and coming QB, but there is going to be a lot of youth. They have to be bringing back more than SV is! Two starters on Offense and 5 on Defense (if they don't shift anyone around). I know B-C graduated most of their offensive skill position starters, I recall a couple of O Linemen returning. Not sure on D, but I think they lost quite a bit on that side as well. Most of the playoff teams from last year will not be returning QBs - I think only Victoria East and Seguin have returning QBs. Overall, Vic East and Pieper appear to be returning the most starters, but both are moving up in classification. Definitely should be interesting!

Man, I wish every district was competitive like this one and a few other northern ones that are more brutal. Where good teams might be staying home at the end of the season. None of this weak sauce garbage where 1 or 2 teams are good and the rest suck. Man could you imagine the playoffs if every week was actually competitive! By the time the title game came, teams would truly be battle tested and these blowouts would stop.

By the time the title game came, teams would truly be battle tested and these blowouts would stop. Yea NB’s schedule is very solid for a 5A school for this upcoming year. Although I’m worried the Unicorns will be in over their heads as their enrollment starts declining further the following year; they will be around 1,700-1,800 after their initial year of 2,050 or so. But don’t sell 15-5A short. That looks to be a very competitive district also, if maybe just a bit less deep than 13-5A. It was my biggest takeaway besides how D13 shook out. There’s enough battle testing there to not worry about being soft headed into the playoffs.
