I’ll go ahead and say this. I now wish they would get rid of streaming for UIL games save maybe the last two rounds of the playoffs and the championships. That’s in all sports. Not only are kids not getting the in person support they should get and most of us on her enjoyed back in our day But all the clubs who sell concessions are losing money that helps their fundraising. So the kids lose twice. I can understand your point, but folks that can't get out for various reasons, like myself currently, enjoy seeing the games still. I do agree if your healthy and can go, get your arse off the couch and go support the kids! Go buy concession stand items, buy the programs, and enjoy the atmosphere! If you're not local, find a local team to support like houndhound did. I fully sympathize with situations like yours. But the streaming thing along with Zoom and other online things have made us collectively lazy thanks to Covid. And include myself in that category. Thank God my job encourages me to be out in the field now because even being at home in a home office drives me nuts. I ageee with Chino that a 24 to 48 tape delay might be solution. Don’t know how the UIL would enforce that and if they could without a bunch of people checking on a weekly basis to see when a video has been uploaded to You Tube or whatever platform.

And yeah money is being lost and then some of these illegal streamers have the nerve to post cashapp info and ask for tips after they are literally costing their own program money by doing this. Lmao! Are you serious they are asking for cashapp tips? Good grief. There are thousands of scammers out there who like to flood Facebook or Twitter (X) postings that the schools put out about a game with these fake links to watch the game just to get your account numbers. Some look very legit.

Streams allow people that live far away or that have health issues to be able to watch the games …don’t blame it all on the streaming .. attendance has been down way before the games were ever streamed … you have to change with the times …did radio broadcasts impact attendance in the 90’s? if boosters feel they are losing out on money due to poor attendance then school districts need to find a way to monetize the streams and capitalize on the technology… people that no longer live in the area shouldn’t be punished for UIL or school districts not being able to monetize the streams … there’s a market out there for streaming … school districts need to change with the times Stadiums were much fuller in the 90s and before then with Radio being the only medium to follow a game. Streaming no doubt affects home attendance for many of our teams. But I can guarantee it affects road support for many teams as well. I don’t know how many times I talk to people like before our game in Alice who said they were going to just catch it on line and they said the same for the GP game.

Other than participants and relatives there's not a lot of motivation to drive to Brownsville to see FB play Porter on Thursday when it can be seen online. Just saying.

Next Friday I have that dilemma with Hidalgo. Other than stopping by one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in near by Weslaco, I’m trying to get motivated . The Greek Festival downtown next Friday night might be a better option.

i think for an alice. my perspective is we have to many people that have season tickets and have had them for years wont let them go but dont go to the games. and havent gone for years even before covid. and now days people dont wanna go if ur team isnt very good . but guess what once the playoffs come around and ur lucky enough to win and move on everyone shows up. so wether you live streamed or not the seats r still going to be empty. plus i think its up to everyone to make these kids a big deal paint the town orange and white like they use too. streams signs everywhere then maybe it will grab some interest. hell our student section this year sucks . but walk around by the concession and gate trying to leave and they r all under there trying to be cool.

This is very much a generational issue. Around the state, you see what was once a packed stadium, half full. Maybe the only exception is the valley. Cuero has a state caliber team this year, yet the stands aren't packed with people. I was at the homecoming game last week and the atmosphere was just meh. In my job, I have the opportunity to talk to teenagers from the several local schools. From Goliad all the way to Industrial, the kids at these campuses could care less about going to the stadium on a Friday night, when all the entertainment they need is in the palm of their hand. Even students that do attend the games are on their phone the whole time. And don't get me started on Victoria students...that's a different group all together. That town does not support football. There's a vibe on Friday nights...but not in Victoria.
I see the benefits and drawbacks to streaming. Same with social media, all together. On one hand it's super convenient. Then on the other, I long for the days before social media.

The motivation to drive to the Valley isn't there because you have the option to see it online. Take that option away and you'll be motivated lol.

Yep I wish someone would put their foot down and start taking away season tickets from people that don't use them. Hell just start over with it and make everyone start over the season ticket purchasing process. As far as the almost non-existent student section I think my suggestion is a good one. Fix up a section of that endzone seating to be student only. Decorate it with graphics/banner and give it a cool sounding nickname. Do something to make the kids want to be there.

Then on the other, I long for the days before social media. Which makes me think about all these super stadiums that have been built or are in the plans right now? Do they REALLY need all that capacity? I watch highlights of games in the major metro areas and those ISDs where they have or going to build these stadiums and they look half full at times if that. But you kind of hit the nail with the current generation of students and those who have attended school the last 10 or so years. Football Fridays was the perfect excuse to get out of the house if you were not participating already and socialize post game too. I haven't been to my hometown on a Friday night in probably 15 years and it's been 35 years since I graduated. But I doubt the kids like we did back then are gathering post game at Sonic or Pizza Hut next door to hang out , eat and then move on to a party out in the sticks without drawing the attention of the TABC or the Sheriff's office.... LOL!

Does Alice have digital tickets for the Season Ticket holders? That's the best way to weed them out. If they don't renew by a certain time, they go out for sale to the general public. If many of those now owned by older folks, they still shy away from some of the digital things.

Alice's stadium actually has a concession stand in all 4 corners of the stadium. Nobody really has to walk very far to get something.
