Besides the long hike, I'm excited about the Districts East and West landed in ....... Victoria will have some good football teams at Memorial Stadium the next few years!

5A Div 1 Region 13 is no joke: Boerne Champion Comal Pieper Comal Smithson Valley New Braunfels San Antonio MacArthur San Antonio Wagner Seguin Victoria East
This potentially could include the 5 best teams in Region 4. Competition for the 4th playoff spot is going to be intense. With SV having a major reload ahead (return only 6 starters) this could be a tough draw!

There will be at least 3 very solid teams left out of the playoffs and playing basketball the week of round 1. I look for NB to be very tough as they will have a very heavy senior team this next year. After that, it'll likely be time for rebuilding for the Unicorns.

I can't wait for these next two years to actually have a legit Region 4 5A D1 rep in the semis FINALLY!!! The last 2 years were a joke...

There's a lot of uncertainty at NBHS - still need to pick a coach! Systems may change. Hopefully the rest of the staff stays intact and they can maintain continuity.

5AD2 has some interesting moves Alice to the Valley with Shary, VW north to 13, GP will battle Miller in district 14. Carroll will be in the playoffs there, and 4th will be a battle between Moody and Ray. PNG and SOC in the same region this time is interesting... LH should dominate their district in region 3, but they have some good playoff matches in region 3. Lovejoy should be the favorite in Region 1. Very favorable landing for the CCISD schools. They should now have 3 playoff teams instead of only 1 now that VW and Alice are not in that district.

So Miller earns their spit as they have the last 2 years, but at least they play like schools now. Carroll should be 3rd because they are better that Ray, King, and Moody. Then Ray and Moody should battle for 4th because King is not going to compete.

The UIl is on serious drugs
I see in 4A Lampasas, Burnet, and Marble Falls are in Region 1. I guess Pecos or Sonora will be a neutral site in the playoffs?

Burnet, Marble Falls, Lampasas is at divide of Region 1,2, and 4 so wherever needed to fill a district. The Austin schools not opting up created this. - First round of playoffs will be Dist 3 - Pecos, Andrews, Big Spring, and San Angelo Lakeview. Long travel and poor neutral sites to play. - Dist 1 is El Paso, - Dist 2 is West and North of Amarillo

Really, I think that all of the teams except for Mac will compete for the playoffs. Very deep district. Reminds me of 27-6A before SV dropped down.

Well that's interesting. Also 5A teams ranked #2 Forney, #3 Longview, #7 Lancaster, and #10 Northwest have all moved to 6A. Leaving #4 Smithson Valley as the highest ranked returning 5A team. Which Aledo beat 51-8. It's going to be a fun next two years! With Highland Park dropping down that's going to be the toughest task. Very true. But it's a completely different scenario than DeSoto in 5A. It's on! For what it's worth, I think the DeSoto drama was simple -- Coach Mathis wanted to opt up. Higher level of competition, and he'll win state anyway. He has made comments about being ranked #1 in the nation. Playing in 5A would not have done that for him. All you can do is beat bad teams by 70, past that you are threatened with losing your job. Then maybe he beats Aledo by 70 as well. One signature blowout against a top 50 national team and then beating up on a bunch of nobodies is just not enough to get you a #1 national ranking. And then I think the superintendent didn't want to go 6A. So they presented a conflicting request to the UIL, and ultimately football won, because, of course.
