What would have been even better if the Wildcats had jumped in the pool with the Pirates.

5A Region 1 Final!! Aledo vs Mansfield Legacy 06/03 game 1 7PM 06/04 game 2 high noon, game 3 if necessary 30 mins following Game 2 Winner goes to the state tournament!! Do they not play basketball or soccer at Aledo? Pretty much the only sports I'm not seeing them consistently winning the region in. lmao Both boys and girls made the playoffs in both sports. Unfortunately none of the teams made a deep run.

Sinton struck in the first inning when Marco Gonzales scored on a Canon Chester bloop single. The Pirates added two more runs in the fourth on a RBI triple from Rene Galvan and a RBI double from Braeden Brown. Sinton starter Wyatt Wiatrek stymied the Wildcats through six innings as Calallen had three batters reach base in those innings. But in the seventh, Calallen loaded the bases on back-to-back singles from Roberto Perez and Brayden Sprencel, along with a walk from A.J. Yepez. Brown came on in relief of Wiatrek, allowed a bases loaded walk but then struck out Tres Vasquez. Blake Mitchell came from behind the plate to earn the save with a strikeout and a pop out to end the game. Wiatrek finished the night with the victory, allowing one run on three hits with three walks and seven strikeouts, throwing 88 pitches. Mitchell earned the save after throwing two-thirds of an inning with one strikeout. Gonzales finished 1 for 4 with a run, and Chester was 1 for 3 with an RBI and scored a run. Rene Galvan was also 1 for 3 with a run and RBI. Brown finished 2 for 3 at the plate. For Calallen, Lamkin threw six innings, giving up three runs on five hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts. Perez finished 2 for 3 and Terik Hickmon had an RBI. Sinton pitcher Wyatt Wiatrek on his night: "Early on, I just kind of got locked in, pounded with the fast ball, off-speed was working real well. They have a lot of lefties in the lineup, so I had to throw a lot of off-speed early with them. They are real aggressive at the plate, and the defense did an amazing job today. Overall it felt awesome. Sinton coach Adrian Alaniz on his team's night hitting: "It's anything. We missed a sign early in the game, so the mental approach is something we didn't do good early on. But you know, it's just baseball, it doesn't mean you got over there ... anything is a hit and it goes down in the scorebook as a one. But we'll take everything that we get, and just keep doing the things right and hope to continue to roll with it." Calallen coach Steve Chapman on the difference in the game: "The difference was we didn't get a hit when we needed it. Actually the only time we really had a scoring opportunity was there in the seventh inning. Their kid pitched an excellent game, mine did too. We dropped two fly balls, you know, that was the difference in the game."

They should have gone to shake hands. It's the traditional class thing to do.

Sinton players saw all week long how the Calallen coach was the winningest coach in HS history and it was on Pro Calallen TV every day and in the pro Calallen Caller times every day. It was traditional for the media to promote Calallen and has been going on for years. The Sinton players broke with tradition.

Sinton players saw all week long how the Calallen coach was the winningest coach in HS history and it was on Pro Calallen TV every day and in the pro Calallen Caller times every day. It was traditional for the media to promote Calallen and has been going on for years. The Sinton players broke with tradition. Sinton was favored to win and even the vast majority of the Calallen fan base acknowledged this leading up to the game. Hence the reason we rolled the dice for the one game . We just didn’t have the quality pitching depth they have. I had visions where the game could have been a run rule game, but Lampkin pitched a good game. Two of their runs were un earned. Sinton’s pitcher pitched a better game. Sinton is just at a level by themselves this season and the result would have been the same for Boerne even if they would’ve had their stud pitcher off the disabled list. However last season with the same talent , they did choke in Austin to a less talented Rusk team. I guess we will see if the bats SHOW up in Austin this year where they for some strange reason didn't show up last year. It’s almost like they had to use bats they hadn’t used all season because the others were left in Sinton. This Calallen team had zero power hitters and we were physically small. The Sinton team physically looked like some of the teams who won state titles for Calallen when we had those runs. I wonder if being multi sport athletes has something to do with it which many of the Sinton players are? Where as in our baseball program it’s unofficially discouraged. Been like that now for a decade now for which was the last time we made a state appearance with many of the players back then being multi sport. The year around select thing is not helping our program. Conversely a number of our Softball girls are multi sport athletes and they’ve had better success than baseball the last four or five seasons.

I'm not saying this because it happened less than two hours ago but I can't think of a bigger meltdown that Aledo has ever had in any sport. Up 9-1 with 1 out in the final inning, Aledo gives up 12 runs and loses the game and series to go to state. Very proud of the team and what they accomplished but this has to be one of the worst collapses I've ever seen. Just a very shocking result.

Some great matchups in Austin this week to determine the 2022 state champions. Among Sinton and London is in 2A Shiner is at the show again. As best I can tell Shiner is the only team with a perfect 33-0 record. Sinton plays at 4pm and Shiner plays at 7pm at disch falk field.

You have grandkid there or a kid teaching or something that we didn't know about? And for the record, I don't give two chits about all the media attention a coach gets for becoming the winningest ever in the state. It is well deserved IMO. I do also believe that the Sinton kids should have paid respects first before jumping the fence and into a pool. I don't care how bid the rivalry is on the field, when the game is over you shake hands first and then go do your thing.

They should have gone to shake hands. It's the traditional class thing to do. The fans and players have a history the last 2 years and not just in baseball but a fight that broke out in 7 on 7 recently. Sinton celebrated likely to rub it in and I get it. Also they're kids that had just punched their ticket to state. This isn't the MLB.
