Cochino you are correct. Austen Ochoa could not compete at the 5A level and he makes at least one big blunder in each game and tonight he has 2. What are you talking about? He had a great sophomore season at G-P.ย Cochino, Quit confusing these kinds of posts with the truth and facts.

My biggest take from watching this is that all those people throughout the years that claim Refugio could beat even the local 5A teams are delusional. Much respect to Refugio they are great... for 2A. But these guys would lose to even the lesser talented local 5A teams and obviously future 4A teams. I concur

The fact is I watched Ochoa play against Calallen and he was sacked about every time he went to pass. I watched QB Colton Duff rush for over a hundred yards while Austen Ochoa rush for negative yards. He could not compete with Cal or FB or Ray or Oak in the first game of the year. Yes that year he could compete with Miller who did not win very many games. He was 1-4 at home. Was he as good as Body as a Sophmore? The guy who saved some face was Joey Sauceda subbing fo injured Zip and he rushed for 150 yds against Cal. Joey was the only offense GP had. Ochoa runs the 40 in 4.6. He has a strong arm but throws a soft pass. If he is pressured, he just throws it. Granted he has different players around him but he is also playing against different players than Cal and FB. I think the FB game was the one the officials started the game with a very critical eye.

BTW, AUSTIN OCHOA WAS THE ALL SOUTH TEXAS OFFENSIVE NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR. Helps to see more than 1 game in person to evaluate a player.

Unlike Coach Bill Parcells who can evaluate a player after watching him in 3 plays, I need half dozen games like I saw Austin Ochoa in and I really like to have it on a CD so I can scout it. Coach Frank Beamer and I are kicking game nuts and I understand field position and chance of scoring from 10 yd line versus 30 yd. line. Then when the QB takes over, I want a smart QB. One that does not make mistakes under pressure. I am worried about Refugio next week. I have seen Post play before several times and they were a hard hitting ball club like Refugio. I like Austin Ochoa and thrilled he left GP for a better chance at a Baseball scolly at UT like his teammate Jared Kelly.
