They will start work on HS #13 a few years after SA Sotomayor is established in a new bond most likely. I think then they will have to make a 3rd stadium. 12 will be too much already. This is insane! Northside has boomed with growth and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Already sent two schools to play football in another district wonder what’s next? Not sure, but it sure looks like there is a lot of room left before they hit build-out.

Not a lot left but there is room. Harlan is already at or nearing capacity. Sotomayor is needed and then probably a school will need to built to probably relieve Brennan and Harlan after that. Growth has spilled into Boerne ISD and Medina Valley ISD. Both Boerne high schools will probably be in 6A late 2020s. Medina Valley will be in 6A in late 2020s too.

I was watching this journalist on TV at the Dallas Bus station where they are sending the illegals to from Brownsville and border. They are in the bus loads and thousands and that area is going to need to build a lot of schools fast. Some are under the age of 12 and most are high school age. So far 30,000 are HS and a little over 3,000 are under 12 and the coaches in that area should be testing them for speed and recruiting them to their school. The bilingual coaches may be getting a premium pay check. Soccer may be their choice of sport.

I didn’t realize that most of Northside ISD’s open land was a state park. Time to do some digging on my part to see if they have done any “full build out” demographic studies.

If you can find something on that, I would be pleasantly surprised!

No more Hirschi, Rider or Old High. Rider and Hirschi live on as middle schools. Old High gets screwed. And Coyotes gets dropped. There was a late push to have Legacy's mascot be the Coyotes, but it failed. Also, the school board would rather rename Memorial Stadium in order to name the west school Memorial. They could've just named the school Heritage, which I think sounds better anyway. Legacy High, Heritage High, and Memorial Stadium (or Veterans Memorial Stadium, as there is a push to honor the vets). Legacy Legends & Heritage Heroes and call it a day (since they want to be generic!).

Northside ISD used to post enrollment numbers at the end of every month before COVID-19 hit. So NISD has released no data since then. Only some minor pieces of data during board meetings when it came to the changing of boundaries for the opening of Sotomayor. Harlan had over 3600 students this fall and will have an estimated 2399 students in 2022-2023 once Sotomayor opens. Currently Brennan, Harlan, and O'Connor are the only schools over 3000 students but that will changed next school year and Brennan will be the only school over capacity with 3000+.

So I looked into where Govt Canyon State Park was in Northside ISD..and yea, it’s a big park, but if it takes up a 1/3 to 1/2 or remaining open space, it would be a lot. I fully expect Northside ISD to continue churning out at least several more new high schools in the coming years.

According to TexasISD.com, Lubbock Cooper's new high school due to open in 2023 will be named Liberty High. Their mascot will be the Patriots.

It's like Texas schools have no imagination. So many similar named schools and mascots. Think of something different, people!
